How to Tell When Someone Is Insecure
In a business deal or any kind of negotiation for that matter, swooping in to
win the deal depends not only on your negotiation skills and the talking
points you’ve prepared but on your ability to analyze when that person is
insecure or indecisive so you can make your move and secure your win.
Being able to spot insecurities can be advantageous in a negotiation because
all you need to do from there to secure the odds in your favor is to say the
right things that resonate with your subject enough to convince them to
jump the fence and come over to your side.
Here are signs you want to keep a lookout for that could give you some
indication that the person is feeling indecisive or insecure about their
decisions:
They are still mulling over the concerns and worries.
They don’t seem settled with the decision that they’re leaning
towards at the moment.
They keep asking the same question repeatedly, almost as if
they’re having a hard time accepting the answers they’re being
given.
They reject your initial suggestion, but then come back and
circle around it again.
They ask you want you to think several times, or even what you
think they should do.
They might apologize for being indecisive and unable to make a
decision just yet.
