ICY MORNING BREEZE

Icy Morning Breeze dashed to her first-ever stakes victory, outrunning the competition to win the $360,345 New Mexico Classic
Futurity-RG2 held at Zia Park on Nov. 8. William and Mary Robertson home-bred the two-year-old filly, who posted her second
overall win in five starts. It marked her first victory under trainer Jackie Riddle, who took over working with Icy Morning Breeze when she came to Zia in September.
Riddle liked what she saw out of Icy Morning Breeze from those initial workouts.
“I had worked her, and she worked good and then she ran a good race,” Riddle said.
With Hector Aldrete aboard, Icy Morning Breeze broke well in second coming out of the 3-post, moving into the lead by a head at the first call. The filly widened the gap to a 1/2-length as she entered the stretch and she sported that same margin as she crossed the finish line.
The 350-yard stakes-winning trip took :17.618, posting a 96 speed index.
