CHICKS WITH CORONAS

Making a trainer change appears to have made all the difference for Chicks With Coronas. The three-year-old filly
remains undefeated in three starts under trainer Casey Black, with her latest victory in the $59,200 Speedhorse Derby on Nov. 14 at Will Rogers Downs also pushing her into blacktype.
Sharon Hafliger and R.J. Ziegler own Chicks With Coronas, who notched her fifth win in nine lifetime outs. Her owners banked a $22,496 payday that increased the total earn- ings of the filly to $54,424.
“It’s been a long haul for that filly,” Hafliger said. “It’s not her fault that she doesn’t have that blacktype before now.
“This mare has been good from the begin- ning,” Hafliger continued.
Chicks With Coronas won her debut out by 2 1/2-lengths in April of 2019, then attempted to qualify for the Heritage Place Futurity. She remained on the claiming
