                 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile-RG2
OUGHT TO GO TEE
by John Moorehouse
Ought To Go Tee secured the first stakes win of his career, prevailing by 3/4-length in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day
Juvenile-RG2 at Fair Grounds in New Orleans on Dec. 12.
In the opener of a Louisiana Champions Day card that consisted entirely of stakes races, Ought To Go Tee finished the 350-yard event in :17.610, posting a 94 speed index and bring- ing home a $45,000 payday
for owner Jose Oviedo.
A two-year-old gelding, Ought To Go Tee has made three trips to the winner’s cir- cle in five career starts. This marked his second stakes race; he finished second in the Laddie Futurity-G2 on the Fourth of July at Delta Downs. With this result
and the winner’s share of the purse, the gelding improved his total bankroll to six
New Mexico Classic Derby-RG2
figures at $139,572. Ought To Go Tee has raced exclusively on the Louisiana circuit since breaking his maiden on June 13 in his trial for the Laddie Futurity.
Fernando Lopez, who trains Ought To Go Tee, spoke about the gelding, who went off at 8-1 odds:
“I was not surprised that he won,” Lopez said in a press release on stallionesearch.com. “The horse performed really
well at Delta Downs (in trials for the Laddie Futurity). He ran second to (Sir Louisiana Dash) a Grade 2 winner. He didn’t make it back to that final, but here he is today.”
Ronald Gale bred Ought To Go Tee out of winner VF Ought To Go Max. Ought To Go Tee is her first starter.
Jess Sweet Time (One Sweet Jess-Track Shaker) finished strong to secure
runner-up honors for Trey Ellis, Roland Frederick, and Cory Mouton. Ellis also trains the gelding, who had Juan Garcia Jr. aboard.
Sir Louisiana Dash (Sir Runaway Dash-Ms Proverbial) finished third for owner Rogelio Marquez Jr. trainer Hector Alcala, and had Raul Ramirez, Jr., in the irons.
The remaining order of finish was A Political Rose (Apollitical Blood-Chicadee Rose), BP Fancy Girl (BP Wagon Train- Dagouti), TDZ Shes A Runaway (Sir Runaway Dash-Shes A Royal Toast), Sheza Freighttrain T (Freighttrain B-Cloning Around), Apollitical Bye (Apollitical Blood-Swiftone), Ms Runaway Presence (Sir Runaway Dash-Provocative Presence), He B Swift (Freighttrain B-Eye Be Swift), TMF Rogue Runner (Five Bar Cartel- Jess A Rogue) and Sheza Zoomin Memory (Zoomin For Bux-Leave Her Memories).

       GIRL WITH A PLAN
by Danny Camp
Girl With A Plan had a plan and she exe- cuted it perfectly. Her plan was to qualify and then win the $247, 735 New Mexico
Classic Derby-RG2 at Zia Park on Nov. 9. On a windy day, she came into the race
with the seventh fastest time after winning her Oct. 20 trial. In the finals, she broke second from the 5-post with Jaime Leos aboard. According to plan, she went to the front
and improved her position from there. At the midway point, she was
a 1/2-length in front and
that’s the way she finished.
Owned by Pedro Zubiate and trained by Jaime Aldavez, she stopped the clock in :19.790 to earn a
93 speed index. She also earned the first place check worth $121,390, which ups her lifetime earnings to $156,222. Her race record stands at four wins out of twelve races, but her four
wins have come from of her last six races. She has certainly found her groove.
Bauer Farm LLC bred Girl With A Plan out of winner Thirty Fourth Street. The mare has produced 100% money earners from eight starters, including four stakes winners. Teana Fay is her top earner with win in the NMHBA Stakes-RG2, and also a second in the Sunburst Stakes-RG3 and New Mexican Spring Fling Invitational.
“This is a really nice mare,” said Aldavez of Girl With A Plan. “She is calm and quiet to be around. When she steps on the track, she is all business. She gets on her toes on race day and she is good to gallop and a nice ride on race day. We bought this mare in El Paso and she has been very good to us. We are looking to keep her in allowance or stakes company this winter.”
Amandas Flashy (First Moonflash-Holland Fire) and jockey Duane Sterling finished second for owner Bob and Sissie McClure and trainer Fred Danley. The filly was a finalist in the New Mexico Classic Futurity-G2 in 2019. Fastest qualifier Colby James (Jesse James Jr-Sandy June Bug) overcame a bumpy start to get third under Mario Delgado for owner Rex Wells and trainer J. J. Gonzales. The gelding won the Mountain Top New Mexico Bred Futurity-RG2 last year. Perrys Regard (Chicks Regard-Ms Perry Mason) was fourth. In a deadheat for 5th were Donelli (Big Daddy Cartel-Tres Of Alice) & Big Big Love (Big Daddy Cartel-Desperate Love), fol- lowed by Anakena (Woodbridge-Starsmith), Close To Crazy (Jesse James Jr-Da Edge), First Flashin (First Moonflash-Stevie Six) & DQ’d from 3rd to last Javys Brown Sugar (First Moonflash-Required Fire).
