CORONA JUMPIM MRL

Director Trials Div. 1 at Los Alamitos on Nov. 15. Sent away at 19-1 ods, Corona Jumpim MRL
broke third in the field of seven. Everyone vied for the lead, resulting in some bumping, and at one point Corona Jumpim MRL was listed as last. He rallied to grab victory by a nose, completing 400 yards in :19.934 under jockey Luis Valenzuela. The time was not fast enough, however, to qualify him for one of the two presumptive berths to the Dec. 12 Champion of Champions-G1.
Jaime Gomez trains Corona Jumpim MRL for owner Haras Portofino. Corona Jumpim MRL finished second in this year’s Brad McKinzie Winter Championship-G1 and third in the 2019 First Down Dash Handicap. He won the 2018 Bank of America South American Challenge in his native Brazil.
Anapurus Comercio E Part Ltd. bred Corona Jumpim MRL out of Ipanema Gold. Corona Jumpim MRL is the mare’s only reported starter.
Eduardo Nicasio rode Tac Me Up (Kiddy Up-Tacatrina) to second for owners Ruth Barbour and Colten and Wendy O’Dell. Trained by Christopher O’Dell, Tac Me Up won the 2018 Autumn Handicap and 2020 Cypress Handicap.
EG High Desert Farms LLC’s homebred Bail Czech (Corona Czech-Letty Bail Regis Out) finished third under jockey Mark Jasso for trainer Jesus Mendoza. The 4-year-old gelding earlier this year won the Spencer L. Childers California Breeders Championshp-G1.
Completing the field were Jess B Glory (Mr Jess Perry-Glory Rider), Jess Macho Corona (Corona Cartel-Jess Send Me), Inaugurator (Apollitical Jess- Famous Phoebe), and Rite Quick (Favorite Cartel- Iba Quick Chick). .

ZOOMIN FOR SPUDS

Zoomin For Spuds qualified for the Champions of Champions-G1 for the fifth time with a win in the $15,000 Z. Wayne Griffin Director Trials Div. 2 at Los Alamitos on Nov. 15. He won the Champion of Champions in 2016. Second-placed Apollitical Pence also received a presumptive berth to the race with the second-fastest time of the two divisions.
With Jose Nicasio in the irons, 7-year-old gelding Zoomin For Spuds zoomed right to the lead in the 400-yard Z. Wayne Griffin. He scored wire-to-wire by a 1/2-length in :19.515, posting a 99 speed index.
Monty Arrossa trains Zoomin For Spuds for the Walker Family Trust. Zoomin For Spuds was winning his 13th stakes. Those have included the 2018 Vessels Maturity-G1 and 2019 Brad McKinzie Winter Championship-G1.
Jim Walker, who died earlier this year at age 87, bred Zoomin For Spuds in Idaho from A Perfect Cocktail. Walker foaled Zoomin For Spuds himself and recalled that the colt at 4 1/2 months of age jumped over a four-rail fence. A Perfect Cocktail has produced six winners from seven starters, including stakes winners Bux For Cocktail, Jesses Perfect One and Apollitical Patty and stakes-placer Doing Trix.
Apollitical Pence (Apollitical Jess-Send City), co-owned by co-breeder Dunn Ranch with Valeriano Racing Stable, finished second under jockey Jesus Ayala for trainer John Cooper. Apollitical Pence won this year’s Mighty Deck Three Stakes-G2.
Mark Jasso rode Eagle Coast (One Dashing Eagle- Coastal Candy) to third for owner Ricardo Ramirez and trainer Valentin Zamudio. Eagle Coast won the Rainbow Derby-G1 and Hobbs America Futurity-G2.
Completing the field were Hotsempting (Tempting Dash-Pandorum), Bos Time Machine (Bodacious Dash-One Prompt Chick), Marfilmio (Ivory James-Sinuous) and Jesstacartel (One Sweet Jess-Stolmeacartel). .
Corona Chick Handicap
TELLER WITH CANDY

Teller With Candy demolished his competition in the $25,000 Corona Chick Handicap for 2-year- olds at Los Alamitos in his first stakes win on Nov. 14.
Sent off as the fifth choice at 11-1, Teller With Candy broke out of the gate in third for jockey Jesus Ayala from the rail. The gelding spurted to the lead, lugged out steadily toward the end, and won the 400-yard event by 2-lengths in :20.030, posting an 86 speed index.
Lindolfo Diaz trains Teller With Candy for his father, J. Francisco Diaz. Teller With Candy broke his maiden in his third start and added an allowance victory before an unplaced effort in his trial for the Golden State Million Futurity-G1. The Corona Chick was his sixth outing.
Reliance Ranches LLC bred Teller With Candy in Oklahoma, and Francisco Diaz bought the geld- ing for $42,500 at the 2019 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Teller With Candy and stakes-placed Im Tellin Ya are the two winners in five starters for the win- ning mare Teller N Telleragain.
Mike Casselman bred, owns, and trains second- place Rox Win (Seperate Interest-Mindys Favorite). Cruz Mendez piloted the gelding, who has two wins in eight starts.
Jose Nicasio rode Coronado Kiss (Coronado Cartel-Sixteen Kisses) to third for owners Andrea and Eddie Jensen and trainer Monty Arrossa. Coronado Kiss finished second in the South Valley Futurity and third in the Bitterroot Futurity-G3.
No Questions (Foose-Forgive Her), La Reina Del Sur 1 (Favorite Cartel-Go First N Famous), and AP A Special Takeoff (Favorite Cartel-Jet Takeoff) finished fourth, fifth, and sixth. Flight Queen (Foose-Aviatrix) and Volcums Hot Candy (Volcom- Candy Cartels Cat) dead-heated for seventh. One Sweet Venom (One Sweet Jess-Shake The Magic) finished ninth.
