THE BEST FEELING
by Tracy Gantz
The stallion Docs Best Card hit the Exacta in the $60,000 Far West Futurity at Grants Pass on Nov. 9. His daughter The Best Feeling won the race, while his gelded son Coopers Best Card finished sec- ond. They were the only two by the sire in the field.
The Best Feeling, who qualified the fastest and went off as the 9-10 favorite, quickly went to the front under jockey Jesus Ayala. She won by 3/4-length, stopping the timer in :17.469 for 350 yards.
Danny Montes trains The Best Feeling for owner Adrian Olivas. The Best Feeling had won three of her previous seven races, including two at Los Alamitos.
Lisa Anderson bred The Best Feeling and Coopers Best Card in Oklahoma. The Best Feeling is out of the winning mare Stuckonafeeling, raced
by Anderson in partnership in the mare’s final three starts. Stuckonafeeling has produced six winners from seven starters, including graded stakes winner Moonie Blues, stakes winner Jumpn Black Flash, and stakes-placed Go Black Benny.
Jose Nicasio rode Coopers Best Card (Docs Best Card-Super Cooper) to second for owner Adrian Oliva Gomez and trainer Juan Romo Jr. Coopers Best Card broke his maiden at Grants Pass in June.

Charlies Fury was a prompt odds-on favorite in the $19,000 Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association Fall Classic for state-bred sprinters at
Will Rogers Downs on Nov. 14.

The gelding is out of Jess Charlena, a homebred winning daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Take Off Jess.
Campaigned in three states, including Iowa, Charlies Fury has won six of 18 starts, and the $11,196 winner’s share of the OQHRA Fall Classic purse bumped his bankroll to $263,099, of which $68,562 has been earned from seven outs this season. Las Damas Handicap-G2
CURLS HAPPY WAGON
by Tracy Gantz
Neither fog nor getting bumped on her left flank kept Curls Happy Wagon from posting her second stakes win in as many Los Alamitos starts by capturing
the $50,000 Las Damas Handicap-G2 on Nov. 21. Jockey Armando Cervantes hustled the 5-year- old mare out of the gate. JR Prissys Blood bumped
Curls Happy Wagon’s hip from the inside, but Curls Happy Wagon flew to the front and scored by a nose in :19.962 for 400 yards.
Juan Aleman trains Curls Happy Wagon at Los Alamitos for owners Michael Pohl and Martin Stacy, who bred her in Oklahoma. Curls Happy Wagon previously won the Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1 at Los Alamitos, the Decketta Stakes twice (once G2, once G3) at Remington Park, and the 2019 Canterbury Park Distaff Challenge.
Curls Happy Wagon is out of Stacy’s homebred multiple graded winner Eye A Spit Curl Girl. The mare has produced one other starter and winner.
Lupe Ayon’s homebred Galloping Goddess (One Sweet Jess-Ingrate Queen) finished second. Jose Nicasio piloted the 4-year-old filly for trainer Felix Gonzalez. Galloping Goddess most recently ran third in the Whataway To Go Stakes.
Ruben Lozano rode Ladys A Cartel (Five Bar Cartel-Significant Lady) to third for owner Jorge Carmona and trainer Danny Montes. Ladys A Cartel won the 2018 Pot O’ Gold Futurity at Sun Downs and Champagne Lane Overnight Handicap at Los Alamitos.
