Evangeline Dash
HOT PRIZE

Hot Prize captured the biggest prize in the $20,000 Evangeline Dash on Nov. 19. Noe Castaneda was aboard for trainer Robi
Meche. The filly broke from the 5-post on top
and stayed on top throughout the 220 yards. They crossed the line a neck in front and stopped the timer in :11.835, posting a 91 speed index.
The $12,000 winner’s share of the purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $95,143 and her race record stands at 29-7(1)-3-4(1).
Owned by Annette Faul, this victory marks the filly’s first stakes victory. She was coming off two finalist attempts in the Lakeview Dash and Flying Breed Stakes. She also placed third in the Harrah’s Dash earlier this year.
Jack Willie bred Hot Prize out of lightly raced Hot Dare, who is a half-sister to stakes winners Under Suspicion, Taken The Fifth and See You In Court. She has produced 100% winners from two starters.
Jess Redwhiteandblue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Ha Chi Mama) and jockey Leonardo Rodriguez finished second for owner Joseph Landrenau and trainer Lanny Keith. The gelding finished fifth in the Billy Montgomery Stakes in January.
RF Fast Dash N Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Fast Dash N Deb) finished third under Gilbert Ortiz for owner Rogers Farm and trainer Vann Haywood. The gelding was coming off a third place finish in the Billy Montgomery Stakes in October.
Escandalo (Apollitical Blood-Eying Miss Perry) finished in fourth and Cajun Cos (Tee Cos-JLS Crawfish Pie), Mighty Pocket Rocket (Mighty Corona-Raise The Sky), Jets Fast Dash (Jet Black Patriot-Skippie Fast Dash), Seis Train B (Freighttrain B-Legendary Seis), Corona Stripleking (Coronas Leaving You-Shimmering Crystal) and Little Toy Guns (First Prize Doc- Strikeabye Baby) completed the order of finish.
Sam’s Town Stakes
SS CLASSY JESS

SS Classyjess has reeled off six stakes victories in 2020 alone, reaching that milestone with a wire- to-wire run in the $25,000 Sam’s Town Stakes at Evangeline Downs on Dec. 12.
The Jose Carrizales trainee broke on top from the 4-post and never looked back, opening a 1-length by the first call that she maintained at every subsequent juncture, finishing the 350-yard out in :17.437 for a 97 speed index.
Juan Garcia was in the irons for SS Classyjess’ 20th victory of her career, which produced a $12,000 payday that improved the filly’s total earnings to $266,831.
Edgar Rosales owns SS Classyjess, who has accu- mulated all six of her career wins in stakes company this season. The first triumph came in the Division 1 of the Swift Stakes. This summer, she captured the Miss Retama and the Live Oak, followed by winning efforts in the Neville and Yellow Rose of Texas stakes races.
The filly remains the only stakes winner out of her dam, High Class Broad, a 2004 mare owned by Jesus Campa. Lightly raced herself, High Class Broad has seven offspring, five of whom have made starts. Ronnie Stewart and Double S Farm bred SS Classyjess.
Portfolioh (Coronas Fast Dash-Jess A Lil Bit More) finished second for owners Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielsen, and Felix Rodriguez. The Alonso Neri trainee had Victor Urieta, Jr. aboard.
Black Cazador (Oak Tree Special-Miracle Hock) hit the board in third under Tanner Thedford for owner Raul Rubalcava and trainer Frank Cavazos.
Hot Dam Bam A Lam (Captain Courage-Hot Nova), VF My Favorite Chick (Favorite Cartel-Perrys Folly), Mr Corona Crystal (Mr Jess Perry-Corona Crystal), Seis Train B (Freighttrain B-Legendary Seis), Heza Lawman (Heza Fast Dash-Dashin Kate Perry), DM La Jolla (Hiclass La Jolla-DM Bella Mia) and DLJ Imma B Famous (Coronas Leaving You- Yugo Buds) completed the field.
Harley Greene Derby
HH CJ SHAKE

HH C J Shake scored his third stakes victory in the $90,100 Harley Greene Derby at Indiana Grand on Nov. 12.
Ridden by Juan Marquez, the gelding stepped
away from the 2-post on the lead and was never headed. With the field pressing hard, the duo crossed the line a nose in front. Racing for owners Larry Carter, John Myers, and Bell & Rusty Hawkins, HH C J Shake finished the 350 yards in :17.860 while posting a 96 speed index.
Prepped by Paul Martin, the gelding secured
the $49,555 winner’s share of the purse, which boosted his lifetime earnings to $296,207. His other stakes victories include the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity and Miss Roxie Little Futurity.
Larry Carter and John Myers bred HH C J Shake out of winner Shakem Jake. The mare has produced 100% winners from four starters, includ- ing Central High-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding HH Kentucky Krome, who won the QHRAI Stallion Service Auction.
Jess A Flyin Beach (Escondido Beach-Jess Alive Bully) came flying in the end to finish second for owner/trainer Anthony Cunningham. German Rodriguez was in the irons.
Thunder Beach (Escondido Beach-Flashin Dee Dee) ran a steady and even race to capture third. She is owned by Sheri Miller and trained by Randy Smith. Rodney Prescott was handling the reins.
Jess Z Bob (Jess Zoomin-Billie Bob TB), PYC Fast Girls Rock (PYC Fast Prize-My Girls Rock), Shakeitonthebeach (Escondido Beach-Botticelli Shake), Blue Eyed Newman (Escondido Beach-Miss Louisiana Blue), Catchey Rhythm (Too Tough To Catch-Dashs Rhythm), Beach Benny (Escondido Beach-Streakin Stitches) and HF Omaha (Too Tough To Catch-Firebawl) completed the final order of finish.
