Trainer Dee Keener has always had confi- dence in RF Livies Livewire. The 2-year-old son of CRM Livewire hinted at his ability in his early training, and Keener’s confidence was justified when the sorrel gelding proved best in the $164,200 American Paint Classic Futurity-G1 at Remington Park on April 24.
“I knew he could run the first time I saw him work at home,” said Keener who won the Grade 1 race for the 6th time with RF
Livies Livewire. “Comparing
him to my other five winners
in this race, he’s right up
there, near or at the top.”
Ridden by Juan Pulido, who had been aboard RF Livies Livewire in all three starts prior to the American Paint Classic Futurity, the race favorite broke smartly and raced in third posi-
tion early in the 350-yard feature. He collared longshot

pacesetter PFR Snowpike nearing the wire to prevail by a head in a determined effort. RF Livies Livewire clocked the distance in :17.766 and earned a speed index of 83.
“He has a lot of heart,” Pulido said of RF Livies Livewire. “Those other horses came up to him and he just took off.”
A homebred for Marvin and Pam Wilcox, RF Livies Livewire improved his record to 4-2(1)-
Runner-up PFR Snowpike (Painted Turnpike-Snowdacious), also saddled by Keener, nearly sprang the upset under Benito Baca but settled for second. Owned by Painted Faith Racing, PFR Snowpike was bred in Oklahoma by Paint Horse Queens.
RP Reckless Wire (CRM Livewire-RP Miss Reckess Dash) and jockey Cody Wainscott ral- lied late to finish third for owner/breeder Roy Kent Perkins and trainer Ray Enlow.
Cheyennenews (Painted Turnpike-Deflash), Smithworks (Painted Turnpike-Shesa Mighty Chick), PFR Beth Dutton (CRM Livewire- Sayonara), La Totuga (CRM Livewire-Goldie Will Make It), CRM Tommy Boy (CRM Livewire-Jess One More Thing), DTL Hot
Lips (MHM Hotwire-Shez Showin Ivory), and Splasher (CRM Livewire-Fade Shot) followed. La Totuga was DQ’d from 7th and placed 10th.
Runner-up B Me (Tres Seis-Glory Rider) offered game chase but had to settle for second for owner/breeder Homer A. Hill
and trainer Eddie D. Willis. The filly’s only other start was in the April 3 trials where she finished first in a wire-to-wire performance.
Eddie D. Willis also sent out third-place finisher VF Kiss Me Quick (Kiss My Hocks- Wheely Quick), a homebred for Victory Farms. VF Kiss Me Quick finished third in her April 3 trial heat.
Oro Cartel (BV Travelin Soldier-Gold Ounce), BP Fancydownsouth (Im a Fancy PYC-BP Down South), Marty James (Ivory James-Red Velvet Hero), BV Stand By
Me (Tres Seis-Eyesa First) and Quasiluna (Carters Cartel-Sequoyah Rose) completed the order of finish. Paint Your Lips and Traceys Gold were scratched.
1-1(1)-0, and the $63,610 winner’s share of the lucrative purse increased his bankroll to $80,038. Bred in Oklahoma, RF Livies Livewire is out of winner RF Livies Special.
“I’m so excited, I don’t know what to say,” Marvin Wilcox said in the winner’s circle.
RF Livies Livewire won his trial heat as the fastest qualifier in impressive fashion, lead-
ing from start to finish for a 1-length victory on April 9.

Undefeated from two starts, Whirlaway Wagon hopped at the start in his April 3 trial for the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred
Futurity and despite the slight miscue, the 2-year-old gelded son of Whirlaway Red still managed to win the race by nearly 1-length in his career debut. While the hop may have cost him a spot in the starting gate for the $926,500 main event, it landed him in the Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Juvenile on April 17, a race he also won
to remain undefeated in his young campaign.
Ridden in both starts by Raul Ramirez Jr., Whirlaway Wagon broke alertly and
on top in the $100,000 Juvenile, taking command
of the 8-horse field at the break. He kicked clear of his rivals through the lane and won the 330-yard test wire- to-wire by 1-length as the 7-5 race favorite.
Owned by Manuel Rodriguez’s MRB Racing LLC and trained by Manuel Rodriguez, Whirlaway Wagon stopped the timer in :16.672, earning a 93 speed index.
The $41,666 winner’s share of the purse increased Whirlaway Wagon’s bankroll to $50,504, and he is undefeated in two
starts at two.
Bred in Oklahoma by Buckskin EC Inc., Whirlaway Wagon is out of multiple winner
Lil Miss Party Doll. The mare has produced four winners from five starters. Whirlaway Wagon is her first stakes winner.
B Me and jockey
Jimmy Brooks finished second at odds of 3-1 and VF Kiss Me Quick and rider Justine Klaiber held third
at odds of 4-1, rounding
out a trifecta that
included the race’s top three wagering choices.
