JESS MY HOCKS

The fastest qualifier and 2-5 favorite, Jess My Hocks dominated his competition in the $40,766 Adequan Will Rogers Downs Derby Challenge at Will Rogers Downs on Oct. 4.
Jess My Hocks went 400 yards in :19.417 under jockey Mario Delgado, and his margin of victory was a clear 3 1/2-lengths over 8-1 third choice Juice Is Loose. Michelle Hurdle trains Jess My Hocks for owners/breeders Tom and Kathleen McNally.
Jess My Hocks was coming off a 3/4-length victory as the fastest qualifier in the second of two trials on Sept. 13. During the Remington Park spring meet, Jess My Hocks won two of five starts and was a finalist in the $242,000 Heritage Place Derby-G2 and Remington Park Derby-RG2. All told, he has won six of 11 outs, including four of six at Will Rogers Downs. The $18,752 winner’s share of this purse from his first stakes victory increased his bankroll to $115,142.
The McNallys bred Jess My Hocks out of win- ner Jess Charlena. She has produced 100% winners from three starters. Jess My Hocks is her second stakes winner.
Juice Is Loose (One Famous Eagle-Miss Southern DD) finished second for owners Tom Maher and Stephen N. Williams. Berkley Packer rode the colt for trainer Jason Olmstead. Mighty B Ivory (Mighty B Valiant-Ivory Task) finished third for owner Norman E. Hollingsworth. Bonifacio Quiroz rode the bay gelding for trainer Matt Whitekiller.
Ten Sent (Country Chicks Man-Pink Cartel) and Lota Paydirt (Lota PYC-Shanondoah) finished in a dead heat for fourth. Mr Purgatory (Valiant Hero-Im Jess A Cowgirl), Bo K J (Feature Mr Bojangles-Kelli Kae), Reverend James (Ivory James- Ravine) Ima Secret Daisy (No Secrets Here-PYC Dollars) and Rrelentless (Hes Relentless-First A Princess) completed the order of finish.

Jose Cervantes’ JC Wild King broke his maiden
in the $47,685 John Deere Will Rogers Downs Juvenile Challenge at Will Rogers Downs on Oct. 4. Prepped by trainer Fidencio Jimenez, who gave a leg up to jockey Mario Delgado, JC Wild King broke tardy, but gave a strong late drive for the victory. The sorrel gelding completed his 350-yard trip in :17.681, with a neck margin of victory.
JC Wild King banked $21,935 from his first win in four outs, and earned a berth in the John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2.
JC Wild King recorded the second-fastest quali- fying time with his second-place run, a head behind fastest qualifier Empressum, in the first of two John Deere Will Rogers Downs Juvenile Challenge trials on Sept. 13.
The gelding, who was bred in Oklahoma by Cervantes, is out of Oh Cherokee Rose, a daugh- ter of 2-time Champion Stoli. Cervantes bred JC Wild King out of stakes winner Oh Cherokee Rose, who also ran third in the 2007 Remington Park Futurity-G1. The mare has produced 100% money earners from 11 starters. JC Wild King is her third stakes winner.
Jess Good Enough (Jess Good Candy-Fly On Candy Tree) was second for Diamond Oaks Racing LLC. Cody Smith rode for trainer Clint Crawford. Charlenas Relentless (Hes Relentless-Jess Charlena) ran third for owners/breeders Tom and Kathleen McNally. Bonifacio Quiroz rode for trainer Michelle Hurdle. SPLENDID CAUSE

Kelly Yother Equine LLC’s Splendid Cause used a strong late surge to win the 400-yard $29,359 AQHA Will Rogers Downs Distaff Challenge-G3
at Will Rogers Downs on Oct. 4.
Prepped by Dee Keener and sent to post at odds
of 6-1 in a field of six fillies and mares, Splendid Cause defeated 8-1 longshot Docs River Spirit by 3/4-length in :19.899, posting a 95 speed index.
Daniel Torres rode Splendid Cause, who earned her third career stakes win as well as a berth in the $100,000 AQHA Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 to be held at Albuquerque Downs on Oct. 24.
Splendid Cause was stretching out in distance off her 1/2-length victory as the odds-on favorite in the 350-yard $15,000 Belles Stakes at Fair Meadows at Tulsa on June 27. Raced in three states, including California and New Mexico, the mare has won eight of 37 outs, and the $14,680 winner’s share of this purse boosted her bankroll to $163,517.
J. Garvan Kelly, J. Lloyd Yother and Nancy Yearsley bred Splendid Cause out of Junos Request Stakes-G3 and Oklahoma Distaff Challenge win- ner Answer The Dream. The mare has produced 15 winners from 24 starters, including top earner Dreams Divine, who won the Los Alamitos Oaks-G3 and AB What A Runner Handicap. Splendid Cause is her third stakes winner.
Norman E. Hollingsworth’s Docs River Spirit (Jess Jones-Eye Spy Valletta) and Cody Smith came in second for trainer Matt Whitekiller.
Preyn Onthe Mountain (Ivory James-Prey) fin- ished third under Justine Klaiber for owner Stetson Hurlbert and trainer Eddie D. Willis.
Ms Lori Darlin (Hes Relentless-Grace Gone Wild) ran fourth and was followed by PJ Splash Of Joy (First Moonflash-Jenuine Joy) and Desired Effect (Desirio-Thru Running).
