Lakeview Dash
PEYTONS LAST DASH

Peytons Last Dash pulled a mild upset in the $30,000 Lakeview Dash at Evangeline Downs on Oct. 22.
Sent to post with David Alvarez up, the gelding
closed sharply from 1/2-length off the pace to prevail by a neck over early leader The Cazador.
The Lakeview Dash is for 3-year-old and up Louisiana-breds going 250 yards. Scorching the dis- tance in :12.985 seconds, Peytons Last Dash earned $18,000 and a 115 speed index.
Peytons Last Dash was winning his second career stakes, having scored his first black-type win in a 250-yard division of the Harrah’s Dash Stakes at Louisiana Downs on Jan. 4. The gelding has been trained since February by Rosendo Valdez Jr., and races for Rosendo Valdez of Tyler, Texas, who claimed him for $15,000 last year on the Fourth Of July at Delta Downs. The Lakeview Dash win brought the career record of Peytons Last Dash to 12-6(2)-3-1, for earnings of $71,370.
Peytons Last Dash was bred by JoBaya Foreman and is the first winner from three starters out of the stakes-placed mare Im Game Lets Play, a full sister to stakes winner Listen To The Wind and a half-sister to stakes winners Smoak, Ol Time Preacher Man and Gunna Be Alright.
The Cazador (Sir Runaway Dash-Told Ya) finished in second under Donald Watson for owner Rayne Knight and trainer Michael Zingelmann.
Mag 1 (Mr Jess Kue-Oak Tree Chic) and jockey Rolando Cabrera were third for owner Mag 3 Racing and trainer Frank Cavazos.
Painted By Perry (Paint Me Perry-Bugs Be Nimble) finished fourth and was followed by Gunsmoke B (American Runaway-Dashing Pana), Tahur (Heza Fast Dash-The Game Cartel) and Hot Prize (Fast Prize Dash-Hot Dare). Packin A Punch was scratched.
French Quarter Stakes
HH GAILFORCE

The $35,000 French Quarter Stakes was settled almost from the start, as HH Gailforce broke sharply from the gate, took command early and car- ried forward that momentum all the way to the wire. The filly sprinted the 330 yards :16.418, earning $21,000 and a 103 speed index.
Winning her fourth career race, HH Gailforce is trained by Joel Cantu and is regularly ridden by Luis Ruiz. The French Quarter Stakes, for Louisiana- bred 3-year-old and up fillies and mares, was the filly’s second stakes victory in five attempts. HH Gailforce won last year’s Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2 at Louisiana Downs. HH Gailforce this season was third in the Aug. 22 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby-RG3 and came into the French Quarter off a lackluster performance in the Oct. 3 Gentilly Dash at Evangeline. Her career record stands at 12-4 (2)- 0-2(1), with earnings of $227,747.
Bred by Harvey Hayes, HH Gailforce races for the Egoizzta Partnership and is the first stakes win- ner and one of three winners from four starters out of lightly raced Open My Prize, the dam of earners of more than $246,000.
Speedy Piloto Gee (Mr Piloto-Dominating Speed) finished second under Juan Garcia Jr. for owner Armando Vasquez Rodriguez and trainer Barbara Alcantara. Escandalo (Apollitical Blood-Eying Miss Perry) and jockey Eddi Martinez came in third for owner Jaime Martinez and trainer Jose Carrizales.
Corona Down Perry (Coronas Leaving You- Second Down Perry) finished fourth and was followed by Perry Mouse Tale (Paint Me Perry-FMJ Mouse Tale), Sea Yacht Dash (Sir Runaway Dash- Yacht Sea), Apollitical Toni (Apollitical Blood-RL Toni Lynn), Ettas Lil Jet (Jet Black Patriot-Rare Tex Etta), Ms Diamond Prize (Fast Prize Jordan-Ms Diamond Oak) and Louisiana Dreamin (Heza Fast Dash-Louisiana Blue Dream).

SHAKIA ON ICE

Fermin Lucero’s Shakia On Ice, a 13-1 longshot in a field of nine sophomores, scored a neck victory in the 400-yard $40,000 Lobo Derby at
Albuquerque Downs on Oct. 24.
Ridden by Omar Iturralde, Shakia On Ice
stopped the timer in :19.736 while recording his first stakes win. Luis Iturralde prepped the geld- ing, who earned the $18,800 winner’s share of the $40,000 purse.
Shakia On Ice has won two of 10 races and has banked $37,475, of which $34,375 has been pocketed this season.
Shakia On Ice was bred by Weetona Stanley, and he sold for $10,000 at the 2018 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The gelding is out of unraced Fast Prize Shakia. She has produced 100% winners
from three starters. His second dam is AQHA
Dam of Distinction and Champion Broodmare Fast First Prize, who won the 2002 Heritage Place Futurity-G1 at Remington Park. Fast First Prize produced Fast Prize Zoom, a full sister to Fast Prize Shakia who won the 2008 West Texas Futurity-G1 at Sunland Park in world-record time.
