Mountain Top Juvenile
BAD KOMPANY

Bad Kompany charged into black type and broke his maiden in one fell swoop, winning the $50,000 Mountain Top Juvenile on June 20 at
Ruidoso Downs.

brushed coming out of the No. 7 gate, drifted in, then settled. Ortiz had Bad Kompany running
in front by a head at the first call. The gelding remained in front by a head going into the stretch, holding on to win by a neck and cover the 350 yards in :17.820, posting an 87 speed index while running through a 4 mph crosswind.
Danley banked a $21,483 payday that improved the young gelding’s total earnings to $22,083.
Fred Danley owns, bred, and trains Bad Kompany, a two-year-old sorrel gelding making his second career start. The juvenile was held for horses that failed to qualify for the Mountain Top Futurity-RG2, which was held as part of this same card. Bad Kompany placed third in his June 4 futurity trial.
Danley also owns Ofashionsoutherngirl, a 2010 mare and multiple stakes winner in her own right. She holds victories in two stakes—highlights in a 5-1-1 record tallied over 18 starts and $84,758 in earnings.

and Adrian Ramos was up. Ms Flashin Ivory (First Moonflash-Special Dark Ivory) was third for La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC. The Manuel Rodriguez trainee had Luis Martinez aboard. Making her first start of the season in New Mexico after a spring campaign against open graded stakes company at Remington Park, Antonio Gomez’s
Diamond And A Half celebrated her homecoming with a wire-to-wire victory in the 350-yard $25,000 Rita Danley Distaff Stakes for New Mexico-bred fillies and mares at Ruidoso Downs on June 26.
Diamond And A Half defeated Amandas Flashy by a neck in :17.285 and recorded a 103 speed index. Raul Ramirez Jr. rode the 5-year-old daughter of Champion First Moonflash for trainer Jorge Luis Hernandez.
Diamond And A Half was coming off of an Oklahoma campaign during which the mare banked $6,551 from three races and ran third in the $50,720 Decketta Stakes-G2 in March.
She was bred by Mark and Annette McCloy and is out of Cuz Shes Famous, a winning 10-year-old daughter of Champion One Famous Eagle.
Diamond And A Half has won seven of 21 starts, and her three career stakes victories include a nose win in last year’s 400-yard $30,000 New Mexico Filly & Mare Championship-G1 at Zia Park. The $15,000 winner’s share of the $25,000 Rita Danley Distaff Stakes purse pushed her bankroll to $163,099.
Amandas Flashy (First Moonflash-Holland Fire) finished second for owners Bob and Sissie McClure. Jose Amador Alvarez rode the filly for trainer Fred Danley. Tina Katarina (First Moonflash-Catch This Scooter) ran third for owner Edilberto Estrada. Kevin Enriquez-Arenivas rode the filly for trainer Ivan Tafoya.
Famous Julia (Dash For Famous-Julia James) finished fourth and was followed by Fireball Flash (First Moonflash-Runaway Dashing), Jess To Reel (Jesse James Jr-Hot For Reel), Kellys First Moon (First Moonflash-Corona Kelly), Daddies Lil Darlin (Big Daddy Cartel-A Chick Of Class), Girl With A Plan (Big Daddy Cartel-Thirty Fourth Street), and Knockout Chick (Jess A Chicks-YM Chiquita).

CERS FINAL TRY

Christina D. Robinson’s CERS Final Try broke sharply from post 5 and splashed to a 1/2-length victory in the $25,000 John Andreini
Memorial at Ruidoso Downs on May 31.
Ridden by Alfredo Sigala for trainer Tony Sedillo,
CERS Final Try covered 350 yards on a sloppy and sealed track in :17.582. The 4-year-old son of One Dashing Eagle banked the $15,000 winner’s share of the purse from his second career stakes win.
“I don’t think he cared for the slop,” said Sigala. “The first few strides, he was slapping at
it trying to get traction. Once he got down the racetrack, he showed his class.”
CERS Final Try was bred in Oklahoma by Charles E. Robinson, and he was the sport’s 2020 Champion 3-Year-Old Gelding. He has won nine
of 22 starts and has earned $695,997. CERS Final Try’s 7 wins in 13 outs at Ruidoso include last year’s Rainbow Derby-G1. CERS Final Try was returning to New Mexico after a 2021 Remington Park spring campaign during which he won one of his three races. So far this year, the gelding has been a finalist in the Remington Park Championship Challenge-G2, Bob Moore Memorial-G2 and La Plata Stakes.
“It looks like he’s back to form now,” said Sedillo. “We’ll look for something else to run him in this summer.”
Mitey Political (Apollitical Jess-Mitey Moon) ran second for owners Charles and Dixie Patterson. Bonifacio Perez rode the 5-year-old gelding for trainer Donna McArthur.
Jose Aguilar Mendoza’s Be Quiet (Kiddy Up-Thinking Out Loud) finished third under Hector Aldrete for trainer Eloy Navarro.
Knockout Chick (Jess A Chicks-YM Chiquita), Big Big Love (Big Daddy Cartel-Desperate Love), and Shockinglyfamous (One Famous Eagle- Shocktime) completed the order of finish.
