Donovan Rossa dashed to his fourth career stakes
victory, prevailing over a field that included multiple stakes winners by 1/2-length in the $54,800 Pauls Valley Stakes-G2 held May 6 at Remington Park.
Trained by Dee Keener, O Donovan Rossa grabbed an early lead by daylight after breaking from the inside starting gate. Wascallywittlewabbit grabbed a slight advantage going into the turn but O Donovan Rossa recaptured the lead as jockey Bryan Candanosa steered the gelding into the stretch. O Donovan Rossa held on to win, finishing the 870- yard trip in :45.079 for a 99 speed index.
Kelly Yother Equine LLC owns O Donovan Rossa, a 5-year-old gelding who now holds 9 victories in 29 starts. The $34,800 winner’s share pushed O Donovan Rossa’s earnings to $219,483. The gelding’s past victories in stakes company include last year’s Devil His Due Stakes at Lone Star Park, Walter Merrick Stakes at Fair Meadows, and the SLM Big Daddy Stakes at Remington Park.
J. Garvan Kelly bred O Donovan Rossa out of Shanachee, a 2009 mare with a six-figure bankroll. Shanachee’s racing record included the 2014 running of the Remington Distaff Challenge – one of seven victories in a 32-race career.
Dak (Dominyun-Fleet Elis) finished a commanding 5 1/4-lengths clear in second place. The gelding is owned by Blue Star Racing (Fisher and Porras), trained by James Gonzales III, and had Salvador Martinez in the irons. Big Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Delightfully Tres) placed third by daylight for owner Debbie Grimes and trainer Robi Meche. Ricky Ramirez had the riding assignment.
Wascallywittlewabbit (Heza Motor Scooter- Rabbits N Diamonds), the two-time defending AQHA Distance Champion, and Bakers Big Ol Boy (Jess Louisiana Blue-Lynns Fortunate One) rounded out the finishing order.

F Fast Dash N Jess kicked off his 2023 campaign
with a triumphant effort in the $40,000 Open Me A Corona Stakes-RG2 on April 28 at Delta Downs.
Xavier Scott trains RF Fast Dash N Jess, who broke on top from the 5 hole and never relinquished the
lead for the entirety of the 350 yards. The gelding got stronger as the race progressed, widening a 1/2-length advantage going into the stretch to 3/4-length by the finish line. Arturo Alvarez had the riding assignment, finishing the race in :17.518 for a 94 speed index.
The 4-year-old gelding now boasts 5 wins in 15 starts, and all but one of those victories have come during his current streak, which began with an allowance on Oct. 6 at Evangeline Downs. He closed his 2022 schedule by winning the Louisiana Champions Day Derby-G3 at Evangeline.
CB Racing Stables owns RF Fast Dash N Jess, whose bankroll swelled into six figures at $113,151 with this $24,000 payday. The gelding has raced exclusively on the Louisiana Quarter Horse circuit to date. RF Fast Dash N Jess was bred by Tim and Jennie Rogers of Rogers Farms in Louisiana. CB Racing acquired the gelding for $20,000 at the 2020 LQHBA Yearling Sale.
TM Dee First Bar (Five Bar Cartel-Call Her Dee) finished second by a neck for Jose H. Rodriguez. Fernando Valdez is the trainer and Juan Garcia Jr. was in the irons. JJS Lace (Five Bar Cartel-Lethal N Lace), surprised in third. Owned by Olvera Ranch Distributor LLC, the gelding is trained by Carlos Fierro and had Jorge Garcia aboard.
The remaining order of finish was Attitudes Runaway, RDD Empire Builder (Jess Louisiana Blue-Jacquie O), LRH Heart Of Glass (Five Bar Cartel-LRH Heartofoanoak), Dianetoseparatefromu (Inseperable-Coronas Concierge), One Fast Perry (Fast Prize Jordan-De Bell Perry), Splishsplash Piloto (Mr Piloto-Splishsplash), and Five Bar Jess Cartel (Five Bar Cartel-Jess Tempting To Fly).

an Lorenzo Dash made it back-to-back stakes
victories with an authoritative score in the $33,900 Mother’s Day Stakes at Delta Downs on May 13. The wire-to-wire victory followed a win in the Delta Dash Stakes on April 28 for the 4-year-old daughter of Heza Fast Dash.
Ridden by Ubaldo Luna, San Lorenzo Dash darted to the lead at the start of the 350-yard test after breaking from the inside post. She opened a commanding 3-length lead in the lane and won with complete authority, defeating LRH Heart Of Glass by 1 3/4-lengths at the finish. Sent off as the 6-5 race favorite, San Lorenzo Dash covered the distance in :17.436 and earned a 96 speed index.
A homebred for Rogelio Marquez Jr., San Lorenzo Dash has now won eight of 19 career starts and the $21,000 winner’s share of the
purse increased her bankroll to $148,014. Bred in Louisiana, the sorrel filly, who is trained by Jesus Marquez, is produced from the One Famous Eagle mare San Lorenzo Eagle.
LRH Heart Of Glass (Five Bar Cartel-LRH Heartofanoak), with jockey Everardo Rodriguez aboard, offered game chase in a solid try but was clearly second best for owner Carlos Campos and trainer Josue Huitron. Hallmarke (Duponte- Zenergy) and jockey Gilbert Ortiz pressed the pace early and faded to third, a 1/2-length behind the runner-up. The 4-year-old filly is owned by Laney Fowler and is trained by Justin Powell.
RM Super Angel (Super Sonic Patriot-Fashion Report), Todalu My Darlin (You Drive I Fly-Royal Quick Jo Z), Jess Dash Fast (Heza Fast Dash- Eyejesslovelouisiana), Shes Jess So Special (Jess An Idea-Ima Special Do Ya), Pretty Piloto (Mr Piloto- Miss Beau Windy), and Bos Gone Rogue (Heza Fast Rogue-Effortless Bo) completed the order of finish. Jes Winnin Cartel was scratched.
