orona B Mine scored her first stakes win from
only her second start in the $37,855 Pocatello Downs Spring Futurity on May 21.
Corona B Mine and jockey Jesus Canales broke on top from the 2-post and never relinquished their lead. They crossed the finish line first by a head for a wire-to-wire victory.
Trained by Hector Magallanes, the team completed the 300 yards in :15.870, while posting an 86 speed index.
Her first winner’s share of a purse puts her bankroll at $17,589 for owner Michael McKay.
Corona B Mine finished fourth in her May 6 trial to this event and was the final qualifier.

B Mine out of multiple winner Time To Splash Bac, who finished third in the 2009 All Canadian Futurity. She has produced five winners from seven startes, including top money earner Unstoppable, who finished third in the 2020 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurtity-G2 and was a finalist in the 2021 Golden State Derby-G2. Corona B Mine is her first stakes winner.
Da Bros Cartel (Carters Cartel-Glitteratti) and jockey Cesar Moreno finished second for owner Edwin Rosales and trainer Jose Rosales Gomez.
The gelding has placed second in both of his first two starts. Eyesa Noyz Chick (KVN Corona-Eyesa Candy Maker) came in third under jockey Nakia Teeter for owner Harry Hinck and trainer Jay Pitcher. The filly has placed second & third in her first two starts.Followed by Drive (Valiant Hero-Lil Baby Eagle), Winagin (Separate Rainbow-XX Me For Moolah), Daguerre Party (Daguerre-AfterParty), Nowhere Too Run (Freakier-A Cataclysmic Affair), JBC Capricho (Docs Best Card-Managing Your Money) and JR (BP Wagon Train-Chicks Wildcat). Knocking It Off was scratched.

treakin Wes kicked off his sophomore campaign
in fine fashion, winning Division 1 of the $15,000 Gary & Sherilyn Blattner Memorial Derby, which was held May 21 at Pocatello Downs. The Blattner Derby was split into two divisions, after weather canceled the derby trials two weeks earlier.
A three-year-old black colt, Streakin Wes posted his first victory in stakes company and his second straight overall win. He closed out his 2022 schedule with a victory in a 300-yard maiden, also held at Pocatello last September.
Streakin Wes showed few signs of rust despite a layoff of almost eight months. He broke well from the 4 gate, was running second at the first call, and worked his way into the lead by a head as he entered the stretch. Streakin Wes held course from there, reaching the wire first by a neck at the front of a blanket finish.
Erick Garcia was aboard for the stakes- winning run, a 350-yard trip completed in :17.851 for an 89 speed index. Glen Jamison is the trainer. The race produced a $7,800 payday for Ramiro Saldana, who home-bred Streakin Wes out of 2007 mare Streakin Zestfully.
Jess Speed Cartel (Corona Cartel-Valiant Jess) held the early lead but faded en route to runner-up honors for Rancho AA, LLC. The Jose Rosales Gomez trainee had Cesar Moreno in the irons. Absolut Keerash (The Marfa Lights-Absolut Pride), an 18-1 underdog, placed third by a head for owner Lukrena Schoonover and trainer Kylie Valenzuela. Armando Viramontes had the riding assignment. Folowed by First Corona Magic (Mountian Magic-DDS Corona Prospect), Good Candy Cash (Jess Good Candy-Check Her For Cash), Whooz Ya Daddy (Big Daddy Cartel-Shi D Anna), Kmk Grandpas Horse (EC Jet One-Sister Emma), Mz Six (Rebs Miracle-Canucatcher Star), and Kirklyns Candy (Jess Good Candy-Kirklyns Dynasty).

ee A Freight Train finished his rookie campaign
on a winning streak and kept rolling along on that track to start 2023, taking first place in the second division of the $15,000 Gary & Sharilyn Blattner Memorial Derby on May 21 at Pocatello Downs.
Alberto Avila owns Bee A Freight Train, who closed his 2022 schedule on a five-race win streak–all in stakes races or trials. His run of victories included the Pocatello Downs Fall Open Futurity, Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge, Prineville Futurity and Firecracker Futurity Consolation.
This marked the start of Bee A Freight Train’s sophomore campaign and he got off on the right foot, winning this derby by a neck. The post-time favorite at almost even-money odds, Bee A Freight Train led at every call, finishing in :17.945 for an 86 speed index.
Jockey Julian Zavala rode the gelding to yet another stakes win, breaking on top from the outside of a 10-horse field. Rosa Rodriguez trains Bee A Freight Train, who brought home a $7,800 payday that improved the gelding’s total earnings to $51,275.
Darian Burt bred Bee A Freight Train and owns his dam, N Bee C, a 2013 mare. Bee A Freight Train sold for $26,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
