Diezs Daylight made his stakes debut a winning one, turning back nine rivals to win the $100,000 Mesilla Valley Speed
Handicap-RG2 at Sunland Park on Feb. 11. Ridden by Adrian Ramos, Diezs Daylight
broke sixth from the four-hole and raced to the front of the field a few strides away from the starting gate in the 350-yard test.
He opened a 1/2-length advantage on his nearest rival and maintained a clear lead to the finish, defeating race favorite HS Paul Walker by a 1/2-length at the wire.
In notching his first ever stakes victory, Diezs Daylight stopped the timer in :17.522, earning a 96 speed index in winning three of his last four outings dating back to 2022.
Owned and trained by Jaime Aldavaz Sr., Diezs Daylight improved his overall record to 14-6-0-1, and the $60,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his lifetime bankroll to $155,464.
