                 RELENTLESSLY FAST
by Tracy Gantz
Two-year-olds by the stallion Hes Relentless finished first through fourth in the Aug. 16 Northlands Futurity at Canterbury Park. Tom Maher was involved with all four, as owner, part- owner, or breeder. He owns winner Relentlessly Fast, the third-fastest qualifier.
Relentlessly Fast, with Angel Ramirez aboard, brushed with the horse to his inside at the start,
but then had a clear shot to the wire. He moved up quickly and won by a neck in :18.126 for 350 yards.
Tyler Stein trains Relentlessly Fast for Maher, with the gelding now having won three in a row, including the MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity. Maher bought Relentlessly Fast for $50,000 at the 2022 Heritage Place Yearling Sale from Roger Daly, agent for breeders Stuart and Strebig.
Bred in Oklahoma, Relentlessly Fast is the only starter out of winner Logans Fast Dasher, who
is a 1/2-sister to multiple stakes winners Logans Mountain and Logans Dash, being out of graded stakes winner Logans Game. Logans Dash produced Champion Golden Boi.
Jason Olmstead trained second-place Relentless Bay (Hes Relentless-Ms Dynasty), ridden by Edwin Escobedo, and third-place Relentless Robin (Hes Relentless-Tritoon), ridden by Eugenio Navarrete
Jr. Maher owns them both, and bred both in partnership with Bill Maher. Relentless Bay has won three races and Relentless Robin has won one.
Completing the field were Relentless Minnie (Hes Relentless-Valiant Filly), I Got Thiss (Apollitical Jess-Senorita Tres), Relentless Corona (Hes Relentless-Mai Corona), Averys Treasure (Moonin The Eagle-BBS PYC Luckycharm), GG Heart On Fire (One Dashing Eagle-Little Love Affair), Runnin Mann (The Marfa Lights-Kelli Kae), and Sum Special Gumbo (KVN Corona- Louisana Corona).
BEEP BEEP REV REV
by Tracy Gantz
Canterbury Park bettors know Beep Beep Rev Rev, and they made her the 13-10 favorite for the Aug. 16 Canterbury Park Derby. She didn’t
disappoint them.
Regular ride Edwin Escobedo and Beep Beep
Rev Rev broke on top in the 400-yard event, and led throughout. Even though Relentless Okie got within a neck, Beep Beep Rev Rev was in charge, stopping the clock in :20.186, while posting an 89 speed index.
Beep Beep Rev Rev has won three of her five stakes at Canterbury, including the 2022 North Star State Futurity and Minnesota Futurity. Jason Olmstead trains the filly for Summer Run Inc., which bred her in Minnesota.
Etta Betta Zoom, the dam of Beep Beep Rev
Rev, cost Summer Run $12,500 at the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. The mare is a 1/2-sister
to Champion Four Forty Blast and Grade 1 winner Holland Ease. Etta Betta Zoom has produced 5 winners in 7 starters, including stakes winner Beep Beep Zoom Zoom and stakes-placed The Minnesota Moon.
Olmstead also trains Tom Maher’s homebred Relentless Okie (Hes Relentless-Ms Dynasty), who finished second under jockey Armando Alvidrez. Stormy Smith piloted Alotta Oh La La (BF Farm Boss-Little Love Affair) to third for owner Double G Racing and trainer Mallory Norton. COMEBACK DARLING
by Elle Summers
Ken Quade’s homebred Comeback Darling grabbed her first stakes victory in the $48,000 Minnesota Futurity at Canterbury Park on Sep. 13.
Coming out of the No. 5 gate, the filly was immediately under pressure from Averys Treasure but held her own and crossed the wire first by a neck. With Alexis Ramirez at the reins, Comeback Darling stopped the timer at :18.229, recording an 81 speed index. The Bill Geditz trainee was also a finalist in the MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity in July.
The bay filly is out of the lightly raced 2005 mare Folas Big Tip by The Big Tipper. Folas Big Tip has produced one winner from two starters including a 1/2-sister to Comeback Darling in Rockem Grace, who was a finalist
in the 2018 version of the Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Futurity.
Tom Maher’s Valiant Speed (Valiant Hero- Panamera) took second place under Eduardo Gallardo for trainer Jason Olmstead. This is the geldings second stakes performance after placing third in the North Star State Futurity in June at Canterbury Park.
Piloted by jockey Edwin Escobedo, Sugar Rushh (One Fabulous Eagle-Candy Coated Paint) secured third place by a nose for owner Summer Run Inc. and trainer Jason Olmstead. The bay gelding won the North Star State Futurity.
