SS PINEAPPLE

With the odds in his favor, Ss Pineapple ran wire-to-wire in the $15,461 Century Mile Distance Stakes on August 25. Under jockey Blandford Stewart, the gelding vied for the early lead and crossed over the finish ahead by 5 1/2 lengths. The gelding completed the 870 yards in a time of :46.867 for a speed index of 81.
Ss Pineapple earned a winnings of $8,448
for breeder and owner Sazwan Speed Horses
and trainer Carl Perry. He now holds a career earnings of $22,978 The gelding placed second in the Grande Prairie Distance Stakes earlier this season on July 9.
The home-bred palomino gelding is the first stakes winner out of Zillas Amour, a full sister to Canada Hi-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding Zilla Secret, who has won the Alberta Bred Derby-RG3 and Prairie Gold Derby. Zillas Amour has produced three winners from four starters.
Big Boss (Jd Wagon Boss-Big Miss Steak) and jockey Alexander Marti dueled down the track to cross the wire second. The gelding is owned by Joe and Tracey Beckstead and trained by Buckey Stockwell. He has placed in the money 2 of his first 4 career starts.
Under jockey Corrine Andros, Timbers Express (First Timber-Daddys Express Girl) pulled away from the gate last but quickly settled in third and held the place across the wire. The gelding is bred and owned by Shirley Laczo and trained by Brant Laczo.
Timbers Moon (First Timber-Wakeup Miss Moon) and jockey C. Benitez brought up the tail of the field, chasing wide. The gelding is bred and owned by Brant and Dakota Laczo and trained by Brant Laczo.
Volcoms Shadow was scratched by the veterinarian.
APOLINARIA PRIZE

Juan Manuel Marquez’s Apolinaria Prize, a 4-year- old filly and the fastest qualifier, was a prompt 11-10 favorite in the 440-yard Bank of America Emerald Downs Championship Challenge on Aug. 20. Ridden by Cordarelton Benn, Apolinaria Prize covered her trip in :22.270 and her margin of victory was 1-length from Fast Movin Freight. Lorenzo Marquez-Campo prepped the bay filly.
Apolinaria Prize was bred in California by Enrique Gonzalez’s EG High Desert Farms. The mare is out
of SS Calendar Girl, who won the 2013 Speedhorse Derby-G3 at Fair Meadows at Tulsa. Apolinaria Prize’s second dam First Prize Robin, won the 2006 Remington Park Futurity-G1 and is a full sister to Grade 1 winner First Carolina. The mare traces back to her third dam, 2006 Champion Broodmare First Prize Dash.
Campaigned in five states, Apolinaria Prize has won seven of 17 races, and the $26,806 winner’s share of the $57,031 purse increased her bankroll to $138,526. The mare has won three stakes, including the 2021 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2 at Albuquerque Downs.
Fast Movin Freight (Freighttrain B-Real Queen Like It) earned $11,407 for his owner Fernando Fernandez. Alex Anaya rode the 6-year-old gelding for trainer Freddy Ibarra.
LG Racing LLC’s The Rev Rocker (A Revenant- Mitey Moon) finished third. Guillermo Suarez rode the sophomore gelding for trainer Jose Rosales Gomez.
Alabama Hills (Brookstone Bay-Tombstone Tina), No Juans Fool (Fastnfierce-Juan Full Corona), Dr Tool (Kiss My Hocks-Where Eagles Soar),
L Bar D Mistr Cartel (Majestic Cartel-Fly Misty Fly), Newport Guy (Kiddy Up-Wave Babe), and
CM Boom Shakalaka (Carters Cartel-Mi Fames A Dandy) completed the order of finish. GC Harrys Game was scratched.
NOWHERE TOO RUN

Onofre Garcia’s Nowhere Too Run sprinted to a neck victory in the $43,100 John Deere Emerald Downs Juvenile Challenge on Aug. 20.
Ridden by Jaime Lopez, Nowhere Too Run went 350 yards in :18.400, while posting an 84 speed index. Benito Curiel prepped the sorrel son of the stallion Freakier. Nowhere Too Run was making his first start since the Fourth of July, when he scored
a nose win in the 350-yard $13,000 Grants Pass Firecracker Futurity Consolation.
Nowhere Too Run was bred in Washington by Denis Valdez. The gelding is out of A Cataclysmic Affair, a winning daughter of the First Down Dash stallion A Classic Dash. He traces back to his fourth dam, Whisperin Campaign, who ran third in the 1976 Blue Ribbon Futurity at Blue Ribbon Downs.
Raced in three states, including Oregon and Idaho, Nowhere Too Run has won three of five starts, and the $20,258 winner’s share of the
purse from his first stakes victory increased his earnings to $29,564. The gelding also scored a berth in the Oct. 21 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship-G2 at Lone Star Park.
Da Bros Cartel (Carters Cartel-Glitteratti) finished second while pocketing the $8,620 runner-up share of the purse for his owner Edwin F. Rosales. Guillermo Suarez rode the gelding for trainer Jose Rosales Gomez.
Peregrino AF (Separatist-Misterious Lady) ran third, 1 3/4-lengths behind Nowhere Too Run. Martin Osuna rode the homebred colt for owner Arturo Fuentes-Lopez, and trainer Jose Rosales Gomez.
JBC Capricho (Docs Best Card-Managing Your Money), JR (BP Wagon Train-Chicks Wildcat), Sorelli Lights (The Marfa Lights-Sorelli), Juan Best Card (Docs Best Card-LSG Deal Me A Lady),
El Cookie (Red Hot Master-She Chicks Out), and La Bichota (Red Hot Master-Miss Cracker Jack) followed. Lee Wes T was scratched.
