CARTELJESS PYW

Fastest qualifier Carteljess PYW scored her first stakes victory in the $33,000 Elko Intermountain Futurity at the Elko County Fair on Sept. 4.
Cristian Aguirre-Erives had the riding
assignment on Carteljess PYW who broke on top and lead the way in a wire-to-wire victory. With 1 1/2-length advantage, the filly stopped the timer in :17.803 and recorded a 98 speed index. The $13,200 winner’s share bumped her total earnings to $26,136 and improved her record to two firsts, one second, and one third from six starts. Trained by Farrol Cunningham, Carteljess PYW was a finalist in the Louisiana Downs Futurity-G2 earlier this year.
Jose Sierra and Karla Diaz Gomez purchased Carteljess PYW at the 2022 Heritage Place Yearling Sale for $37,000 from breeders Terry and Irene Stennett. The brown filly is out of a the stakes finalist PYC Paint Your Wagon mare Jess Paint Ur Wagon, who had career earnings of $134,878.
Lady Dasherr (Bodacious Dash-Ladie La Jolla) earned a second-place finish and a $6,600 runner up share for owner Ferrall Cunningham. The gray filly is trained by Farrol Cunningham and was ridden by jockey Julian Zavala.
Daguerre Party (Daguerre-After Party) showed a big outside effort to secure a third place finish. Ridden by Jose Garcia-Segura, the sorrel filly is owned by Jorge Navarro and also trained by Farrol Cunningham, trainer of the top three finishers.
The remaining order of finish was Texas Five Star (Five Bar Cartel-Lonestar Shaker), Carlo
Rossi (Mr Piloto-Lynda With A Y), BNB Hasta
La Luna (Moonin The Eagle-Hasta La Veesta), Workin Winnie (JR Dynasty Mountain-Nellylyn), Fabulous Gold Digger (One Fabulous Eagle- Ashleys Malibu Gold), Littlerockinrunaway (Duponte-Three Twenty), and CR Last Call Corona (Eye On Corona-Perfect Jeb).
OJD SHEZ GON ROGUE

OJD Shez Gon Rogue secures her first stakes victory in the $30,000 Elko Derby at Elko County Fair on Sept. 4. The $12,000 winner’s
share of the purse increased the filly’s total bankroll to $54,069.
With jockey Cristian Aguirre-Erives aboard, OJD Shez Gon Rogue broke first and lead the charge in the 400-yard race for trainer Farrol Cunningham. Aided by an 8 mph tail wind, she crossed the finish wire-to-wire in :19.956, earning a 104 speed index. This is the filly’s second stakes performance, the first being the 2022 Firecracker Futurity-G2 where she finished fifth.
OJD Shez Gon Rogue was bred in Idaho by owners Karla Diaz-Gomez and Oscar Diaz. The bay filly is out of the PYC Paint Your Wagon
mare Bugs Wagon, who is a full sister to multiple stakes winner and New Track Record setter JLS Party Wagon. She is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winners Ms Pilot Point and JLS Streak Of Snow. OJD Shez Gon Rogue is a half-sister to 2021 Gillespie County Fair and 2022 Old South Derby finalist OJD Miss Lola.
Charm (Hez Fast As Cash-Grace Filled Charm) gave a solid effort, finishing second best for owner and trainer Lynn B. McNeely. Jesus Virgen had the riding assignment. Connie Underwood’s Freds Livin The Life (William Clyde-Living The Life) finished third, taking home a $3,000 share of the purse. Cesar Moreno rode the gray gelding for trainer Kevin D. Williams.
Completing the field were Okey Prissy Mountain (JR Dynasty Mountain-Miss Okey Fame), EH Three Am Icon (Texas Icon-Bizooms Eagle), Look James (Ivory James-Righteous Look), Tempting Fly (Fly Thru The Fire-Kool Temptor), El Serafin (Glock-Elin), and Ethan (Fast Prize Cartel-Perryczech). TBT Meter Reader was scratched by his trainer.
