timer in the brisk time of :17,663. The final clocking, which earned a 101 speed index, just missed the track record of :17.240 set in 2006 by Zoomin For Bux.
Owned by Carlos Ponce and trained by Juan Diaz Jr., Bye Corona Bye added the $245,872 winner’s share of the purse to his bankroll, which now totals $624,204, making him the No. 2 leading money-earning juvenile in the nation. The win improved his record to 6-5-1-0.
Hailing from the family of All American Gold Cup winner DM Streakin Thru Fire, Bye Corona Bye is produced from the Dashin Bye mare Bye N Pearls and was bred in Texas by William W. Reeder. Bye Corona Bye was a $22,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate.
TQHA Sale Futurity runner-up Pink Kiss (Kiss My Hocks-Pink Cartel) offered game chase but was clearly second best. Ridden by Francisco Ramirez Jr., Pink Kiss is owned by Heavy Hitters Racing Stables and Triple R Racing Stables and is trained by Jason Driver. The gray filly, who was fourth in the Sam Houston Futurity-G2 in June, was bred in Texas by Bullard Farms and was a $38,500 TQHA Sale graduate.
Daddy Caliente (Big Daddy Cartel- Valiant Flame) overcame a bump at the start to finish third, a 1/2-length behind Pink Kiss. Ridden by Claudio Aguilar, Daddy Caliente is owned by Mi Cielo Ranch and
is trained by Brian Stroud. The gray colt,
second in his trial heat and still seeking his first win, was a $17,000 TQHA graduate. He was bred in Texas by Jose Espinosa.
Brock Landers (FDD Dynasty-Ms Highmaitenance), Eyeing A Goodtime (Duponte-Miss Wide Open), Deagree (Capo
De Capi-Eye Agree), Hotamale (Duponte- Srirracha), Gulf Moon (Eye Am King-Jen Tilly), Macsimizer (One Dashing Eagle-Sassie Wagon), and Dos Corona Flash (Lethal Corona-Marthas First Corona) completed the order of finish.
