SCOOPS DYNASTY

Maturity, added distance, and jockey Armando Cervantes may have all contributed to Scoops Dynasty’s 2022 perfect season. The
3-year-old gelding, who captured the Golden State Derby-G2 at Los Alamitos on Aug. 14, has won his every attempt in 2022 — all as a 3-year-old at 400 yards and with Cervantes in the irons.
When the gate opened in the final, Scoops Dynasty dashed to the lead and just kept pulling away from the field. He won by 3-lengths, stopping the timer in :19.509, and posting a 98 speed index. The $88,200 winner’s share of the purse boosted his bankroll to $245,450. With that kind of record, it wasn’t surprising that Scoops Dynasty went off as the 1-2 favorite in the Golden State Derby, especially after he qualified the fastest in the July 24 trials.
Scoops Dynasty gave his owners their first Grade 1 victory earlier this year when he won the Los Alamitos Winter Derby-G1. He added the Adequan Los Alamitos Derby Challenge prior to the Golden State Derby. With trials, that has meant a perfect five-for-five record in 2022. Ed and Von
