TQHA Sale Futurity-RG2
DOC MCCROCKLIN
by Michael Cusortelli
Doc McCrocklin, a gray son of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Dash Master Jess owned by Crown Horse Racing LLC, broke sharply from
his rail post and earned his first stakes win in the $435,910 Texas QHA Sale Futurity-RG2 at Sam Houston Race Park on July 31.
Prepped by Roberto Madrigal and sent to post at odds of 7-1 in the field of eight two year olds, Doc McCrocklin covered the 350 yards in :17.775.
J.R. Ramirez rode the gelding, who earned a 94 speed index and the $193,980 winner’s share of the purse.
“I hadn’t ridden him (before), but I saw from his record that he looked like a pretty nice horse,” Ramirez said. “In the paddock, the owner told me he could get a little anxious in the starting gate.”
There was one late scratch in the TQHA Sale Futurity, as fourth-fastest qualifier Lethal Fast Cash was declared at the gate.
