                 Flying Breed Stakes
LOVE THE WAY YOU FLY
by Michael Compton
There was no catching Love The Way You Fly in the Flying Breed Stakes at Delta Downs on July 31. The sorrel colt led from start to finish in the 220- yard dash, proving clearly best in the $50,000 event for Louisiana-breds.
Ridden by Juan Garcia Jr., Love The Way
You Fly took control early and never looked back, defeating Brileys Prize and jockey David Alvarez by a measured 1/2-length at the finish. Love The Way You Fly stopped the clock in :11.640, earning a 103 speed index. The final clocking was just ticks off Magic Black Jack’s 2017 track record of :11.466.
With the win, Love The Way You Fly improved his overall record to 17-5-3-3 and the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his bankroll to $177,761 for owner Todd Matte and trainer Trey Ellis. Winner of the Louisiana Million Invitational at Evangeline as a two year old, Love Tthe Way You Fly also finished second in the LQHBA Breeders Derby-RG3.
He was bred in Louisiana by Copper Spring Ranch LLC, and he is out of Lovetheywayyoulie, winner of the 2014 Heritage Place Futurity-G1.
Brileys Prize (AJS Fast Dash-MS Wandas Prize) surged late to finish second for owner R C Stables LLC and trainer Gilberto Rosales.

TQHA Classic-RG2
WON FAMOUS DASH
by John Moorehouse
Won Famous Dash made an all-out run to his first stakes victory at Sam Houston Race Park, winning the $63,500 TQHA Classic-RG2 in commanding fashion on July 30.
Won Famous Dash left little doubt in this one. After breaking well from the 7-post, the gelding opened a 1/2-length lead by the first call, pushed his advantage to 1 1/2-lengths entering the stretch, then continued
to pull away from his foes—sporting a 2 1/2-length separation as he reached the finish line. The 400-yard trip took :19.719, registering a 111 speed index.
Rolando Almanza, who posted three stakes wins on the July 30 card in Houston, trains Won Famous Dash. Bryan Candanosa did the riding.
A three-year-old gelding home-bred by Scarlett Hill Farm, Inc., Won Famous Dash reached the winner’s circle for the third time in an 11-out career and the second time this year. The gelding’s connec- tions cashed a $38,100 payday that pushed his total bankroll to $80,451. Not too shabby for a horse that was claimed for $7,500.
Scarlett Hill Farm also owns the gelding’s dam Lil Famous Dash, a 2011 mare whose own racing career was highlighted by a victorious run in the 2014 version of the Texas Classic Derby-G1.
Carry The Memories (Dash Master Jess-Processing Speed), the runner-up, also is trained by Almanza, who co-owns the gelding with Scarlett Hill Farm and Cesar Rosales. Ricardo Garza-Cruz was in the irons.
L Capone (Capo De Capi-Scoops Victory Pop) finished third by a neck for owner Richard Arizpe and trainer J.W. Plunkett. Noe Villatoro was the rider.
The remaining order of finish included Beduino La Jolla (Separatist-Southern La Jolla) in fourth, followed by Air To Em Jess (Dash Master Jess- Processing Speed), Kiss My Annee GL (Kiss My Hocks-Grande Annee) and Doz Coronas (The Louisiana Cartel-Zoomin To Firstplace).
Colors Of The Alamo P&A F.-G2
WEAREREADYNOW
by Tracy Gantz
Wearereadynow was ready for the $50,640 Colors of the Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity-G2 at Sam Houston Race Park on Aug. 7. The Paint gelding has a near-perfect record and became a double stakes winner in this race.
Jockey Gaspar Garcia broke Wearereadynow alertly from the outside post. They went right to the front, battled for the lead, and then scored by a 1/2-length in :17.929 for 350 yards.
Leonard Breeden owns Wearereadynow,
and Randy Read trains him. In his first start, at Remington Park, Wearereadynow broke his maiden. He became a stakes winner at the Gillespie County Fair by capturing the GCFA Paint & Appaloosa Juvenile Stakes. His only loss came when he ran second in his July 15 Colors of the Alamo trial.
Four Cross Horse Co. bred Wearereadynow out of homebred Rureadyforme. The mare, who has pro- duced one other starter, won the 2012 First Interstate Bank Futurity.
Lisa Lucido’s homebred Secret Livewire APHA (CRM Livewire-Moonlight Who) finished second. Luis Vivanco rode the colt for trainer Gary Jacobs. Secret Livewire won two of five previous starts.
Read also trains third-place Cheyennenews APHA (Painted Turnpike-Deflash), ridden
by Josh Romero and owned by Michael Read. Cheyennenews broke his maiden in his first start and then ran fourth in three consecutive races.
