trial in her next outin. She captured her trial for the Shue Fly Stakes in a dominating effort that saw her score by 1 3/4-lengths.
“Earlier in the spring last year we really liked this filly,” said winning trainer James Gonzalez III. “We had a little bit of hard luck with her throughout the year. We gave her a little time off and she matured. She ran like we expected her to (in the Shue Fly) and how we always figured she could run.
“Mentally and physically she really grew up and matured,” he added. “That kind of effort is what we expected from her earlier in her career. Luckily, it happened in time for the Shue Fly. She’s made a big jump from two to three. We always knew it (talent) was there. It was just a matter of getting it out of her. She’s doing great now and running fast.”
Bred in New Mexico by Mike Abraham, My Heart Jess Runs is produced from the FDD Dynasty mare Shes in My Heart, a 3-time winner during her racing career and an earner of $42,347.

Don and Lane Reynolds and is conditioned by Fred Danley. Third in the New Mexico State Fair Futurity-RG2 two starts back, Wood Dee Queen finished second in her trial heat, missing by just a head to First Lady On Canvas. The sor- rel filly was bred in New Mexico by MJ Farms.
Flashtoglory (First Moonflash-JP Glory Be) and jockey Alejandro Medina rallied late to finish third for owner and trainer David
Meridyth. The black filly, who was also bred by Meridyth in New Mexico, qualified for the New Mexico State Futurity-G2 where she fin- ished fifth. Flashtoglory qualified for the Shue Fly Stakes with a second-place finish to fastest qualifier Flash Divine in her Jan. 7 trial heat. Graded stakes-placed Flash Devine was sent off as the favorite in the main event but after he bore in at the start the three-time winner was never a factor, finishing fifth.
Mires A La Luna (First Moonflash-Dont Looke Ethel), Flash Devine (First Moonflash- Girlonthego), Blazin Chamisa (Jess A Chicks-A Major Chamisa), Wahine (Corona Surfer- Strawflinfire) followed and Kings Touch (Eye Am King-Physical Touch) and CQ Featured First (TF Featured Effort-Lluvia Ligera First) deadheated for eighth. First Lady On Canvas, was scratched.
