Ranch broodmare and her produce includes Barefoot Beach, winner of the French Quarter Stakes and the Evangeline Downs Derby.
All About Ease also became a broodmare for Cox and has produced runners like Chazaq, winner of the Ed Burke Million Futurity-G1 and the Los Alamitos Super Derby-G1; Zoomin With Ease, winner of the Rainbow Futurity-G1; Katharsis, winner of the Gillespie County Fair Futurity and the Texas Twister Stakes; and All About Torque, winner of the Hobbs American Derby-G3.
Bobby Cox has publicly professed that one of his favorite racehorses was 2004 Champion 3-Year-Old Colt Brimmerton. He earned $519,538. In addition to his grade one wins in the All American Derby and the Rainbow Derby, he also won the Texas Derby Challenge-G3. He is the sire of horses that have earned over $5.8 million. His leading money winner is King Brimmerton, winner of the B. F. Phillips Jr Handicap-G3, Ancira Ford Classic Stakes-G3 and TQHA Sires’ Cup Stakes. King Brimmerton is a Cox bred and raced runner.
Several of these Cox runners have a common denominator that ties John Buchanan and Bobby Cox together. When we look at Dont Let Down, All About Ease, Zoomin With Ease and Brimmerton, we see that at
one time or another they were trained by John Buchanan. King Brimmerton was one of those runners. This is significant when we look at
the pedigree of Whistle Stop Cafe and the pedigree of Brimmerton. We will begin with Brimmerton’s dam, Fitting Celebration, which is also the 4th dam of Whistle Stop Cafe.
Fitting Celebration, a 1990 mare, was bred in Florida by John Shaw Jr. of Jacksonville. Her sire is Ronas Ryon by Windy Ryon and she is out of Dream Duck by Thoroughbred Duck Dance. The dam of Dream Duck is Here Comes My Baby by Thoroughbred Third Martini. Here Comes My Baby is
out of Shining Saint by St Bar. The dam of Shining Saint is Shining Note by Palleo Pete, and Shining Note is out of Gold Note. Gold Note is the dam of Golden Note, who is a full sister to Shining Note. Golden Note was third in the 1961 All American Futurity behind Pokey Bar and Bunny’s Bar Maid.
Fitting Celebration was sold as a yearling in 1991 to Paul F. Gratton of Tarpon Springs, Florida. She raced from 1992 to 1994 with eight wins in ten starts earning $47,775. She won the 1993 Speedhorse Gold & Silver Cup Derby. It was in this derby that she set a New Track Record of :19.550 for the 400 yards at Trinity Meadows. After this race, she entered the training barn of John Buchanan. She made
two more starts in 1994, with an allowance win and an eighth in the Moore Handicap.
The produce record for Fitting Celebration shows that she produced her first foal in 1996, a filly named Feefees Celebration (the third dam of Whistle Stop Cafe) and then she had Secret Celebration in 1997 and Midnite Celebration in 1998. She was sold to Bobby Cox in 1999, and the foal she was carrying was Gone Celebrating by Meter Me Gone.
Gone Celebrating raced for
Bobby Cox, earning $364,068. He
won four stakes races, including
The Championship At Sunland Park,
the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Stakes-G3, the Classic Chevrolet Heartbeat of America Handicap and the Texas Racing Hall of Fame Stakes, all in 2003. He was trained by
John Buchanan.

Down Dash was her
next foal, a three-time
stakes winner in 2004
with the All American
Derby, Rainbow Derby,
and Texas Derby Challenge.
He earned $465,486 that year. Then we add Gone Celebrating’s racing record for 2004 with three wins in five starts and a second place in the Texas Championship Challenge and earning $23,604. Then we add in Mr Satchmo, her 2002 foal by Fishers Dash, to the mix. He was a stakes finalist in the Governor’s Stakes with earnings
of $12,023. The race record of these runners led to Fitting Celebration being named the 2004 Broodmare of the Year.
Fitting Celebration is the
dam of 18 foals, 17 starters
and 13 ROM, three stakes
winners and one stakes
placed runner. Her third
stakes winner is Mitford
by Ivory James, winner
of the 2013 Alex Picov
Memorial Championship
and 2014 Picov Maturity. He set a New Track Record of :21.520 for 440 yards at Ajax Downs in the Alex Picov Championship. His earnings come to $121,558.66. Her stakes placed runner is Benz by Fishers Dash. This gelding was third in the AQHRA Aged Series Enerpan Championship Sprint. The foals of
Ricky Ramirez
told post-race reporters that about 100 yards out she “hit another gear”
