BHR FLASHING EFFORT

BHR Flashing Effort broke his maiden and scored his first stakes win in only his second start in the $30,305 Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Futurity at
Canterbury Park on June 3.
The colt stepped away in second from the 7-post
under jockey Chase Clark and quickly grabbed the lead. They stayed on top and crossed the wire a head in front.
BHR Flashing Effort completed the 350 yards in :18.466. He brought home the $13,637 winner’s share of the purse for owner/breeder Broken Heart Ranch and trainer Robert Johnson, boosting his lifetime earnings to $14,687. The colt was fourth in his first out in the South Dakota Bred Futurity.
Broken Heart Ranch bred BHR Flashing Effort out of 3-time winner BHR Missy Special, who ran third
in the South Dakota Bred Futurity. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including 2013 South Dakota Bred Futurity winner BHR Light My Fire and top earner BHR Guys Flash Me, winner of
the 2014 Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Futurity. BHR Flashing Effort is her third stakes winner.
Haute Wagon (Wagons West-Chics Timeto Fling) finished second under Marcus Swiontek for owner Shelly Berkner and trainer Victor Hanson.
Just Plain Fast (Hasta Be Fast-Pass Dont Brake) and Doug Frink finished third for owner Barbara Jane Tinant and trainer Robert Johnson.
DB Quick Sam (BP Phoenix Reign-Traffic Patrol), Holy Storm (Red Storm Cat-Holy White Socks TB), Rckhastabesouthern (Hasta Be Fast- Marys Ryon Oak), The Sizzleizer (Sizzlin Cartel- Scrutinize Sasha), TRS Boy Named Sue (Knud With Wings-Whereshesupposedtobe), Rockem Grace (This Chets A Rockin-Folas Big Tip), EOS Tyrone (Sweet First Down-My Love My Valentine) and Knu Ya (Knud With Wings-Thisseiscancrankit) completed the order of finish.

PYC JESS BITE MYDUST

PYC Jess Bite Mydust notched her third stakes win in the $23,750 North Star Stakes at Canterbury Park on June 3.
PYC Jess Bite My Dust broke in second from the
2-post under jockey Cristian Esqueda and despite being bumped twice, the gelding was able to grab the lead by the first call. They continued to lengthen their lead and crossed the wire a neck in front, completing the 300 yards in :15.732 and earning a 92 speed index.
PYC Jess Bite Mydust brought home the $11,875 winner’s share of the purse for breeder/owner Lunderborg LLC and trainer Jason Olmstead, boost- ing his total earnings to $167,516.
His race record stands at four wins out of 14 starts, including the $50,000 Minnesota Derby last August. PYC Jess Bite Mydust was named the Champion Quarter Horse of the Canterbury Park meet in 2016 after winning the $165,000 Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity.
Lunderborg LLC bred PYC Jess Bite Mydust out of Paint Or More, winner of the North Central QHRA Futurity. She has produced 100% winners from two starters, including Dickey Bob, winner of the 2017 Minnesota Futurity. PYC Jess Bite Mydust is her top money earner.
Jess A Rumor (Jess Jones-Forbiden Ivory) and Jake Samuels finished second for owner/trainer Ralph A Haglund.
Jess A Chance (Jess Jones-Unlika Angel) finished third under Bryan Velazquez for owner/trainer Ralph Haglund.
Blacks Cartel (Streakin Six Cartel-Brandi Whiz), Gramma Ella (Knud With Wings- Whereshesupposedtobe), Shakemupbayb (Royal Shake Em-BL Forty) and Rey D Arranque (Afterallitsme-Jazzing Jackie) completed the order of finish. Curious James was scratched.
Miss Princess Handicap-G3

Three entities had each won Los Alamitos’ Miss Princess Handicap-G3 on three prior occa- sions—EG High Desert Farms, David Plummer, and Abigail Kawananakoa. It was EG High Desert Farms once again whose charge drew away from the pack when Jess Hawk captured the $50,000 May 13 edition of the race.
With Cruz Mendez aboard, Jess Hawk broke from the 8-post on top and dueled with favored Designs By Dynasty. Jess Hawk received every call as he drew away to win by 1/2-length in :17.449 for 350 yards, while posting a career-high 99 speed index.
Jess Hawk brought home the $27,500 win-
ner’s share of the purse, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $135,213. She now has a race record of 16-6(2)-3(3)-4(3), withher previous stakes win com- ing in the 2016 Pat Hyland Memorial.
EG High Desert Farms bred Jess Hawk out of 2010 California Hi-Point Aged Mare Merridoc Hawk, earner of $219,912 and winner of the 2010 Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1 and Kaweah Bar Handicap-G3. She has produced 100% winners from three starters. Jess Hawk is her first stakes winner and top money earner.
Eduardo Nicasio rode Designs By Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Terrific Energy) to second for owner Carlos Avalos and trainer Yanet Rodriguez. The 4-year-old filly earlier this year won the Terrific Energy Handicap. Dr. Ed Allred’s homebred Tough To Figure (Walk Thru Fire-Big Jan) finished
