Beehive Futurity
ECHO OF THUNDER

Echo Of Thunder secured his first stakes victory in the $95,846 Beehive Futurity at Laurel Brown Racetrack on June 20.
Coming into the finals with the second fastest qualifying time, Echo Of Thunder broke in third from the 9-post. Mid way through the race, the geld- ing grabbed the lead and crossed the wire 3/4-length in front.
Ridden by Edgar Martinez, Echo Of Thunder completed the 350 yards in :17.485, posting a 101 speed index.
The gelding earned the $38,339 winner’s share of the purse for owner/trainer Lazaro Mendoza, boost- ing his total lifetime earnings to $43,012. He now has a race record of 4-3(1)-0-0, winning his June 6 trial and posting the second fastest qualifying time.
Birrell Farms bred Echo Of Thunder out of BF Memory Lane, who won this same race in 2012. She also finished third in the Plan Handicap and Mount Rushmore Handicap. BF Memory Lane has produced 100% money earners from three starters, including stakes placed BF Mightymemorylane. Echo Of Thunder is her first stakes winner.
KP Dillon (Glock-BK Roxyamovin) finished second for owner Karl Peterson. The Riley Moosman trainee had Jesus Valenzuela aboard. Missmayastone (One Handsome Man-Stone Quick Shot) finished third under Daniel Carillo for owner Coronado Gonzalez and trainer Sergio Canales.

In Love), A Trace Of Lane (One Handsome Man-Lanes Legend), Aztec Dynasty (Jr Dynasty Mountain-Laazteca), Shot Byou (Glock-Byou
A Stone), Bravo Delta Charlie (One Fabulous Eagle-An American Cartel) and Vickies Pappasito (Pappasito-Vickies Larkin Dash) completed the order of finish. DFFabulouscountryjo and PF Kool Kool were scratched.

The Eye On Corona Virus Futurity ended up a
de facto rematch between Political Bedlam and JR Prissys Kiss. After finishing second to JR Prissys Kiss in their May 23 futurity trial, Political Bedlam bounced back to win the $31,000 stakes final at Lauren Brown Racetrack on June 6.
Josh Taylor trains Political Bedlam, who went wire-to-wire under Cesar Moreno. The filly led by a nose at the first call and got stronger as the race continued, crossing the wire 3/4-length ahead.
Heading into her first stakes race, Political Bedlam had posted the fifth-best qualifying time, finishing her 330-yard trial in :17.520. She was about four-tenths faster in the futurity, clocking a :17.121 run with a 92 speed index.
Bill Doenz owns the rookie filly, who banked a $12,400 payday that represents the vast majority of her $12,700 bankroll in just her second career out.
Corner K Quarter Horses LLC also owns Political Bedlam’s dam, Miss Bedlan. The 2006 mare is a stakes winner herself, triumphing in the 2010 running of the Fort Erie Maturity, where she set the New Track Record. Political Bedlam becomes the first stakes win- ner in the brood, which consists of two starters.
JR Prissys Kiss (Kiss My Hocks-Prissy B Panther) finished second for J.R. Stables. Trained by Riley Moosman, Jr., Jesus Valenzuela was in the irons. Devils Cut (Eye On Corona-Wortherweightingold) took third under Jesus Canales. The gelding is owned by Lex Fabrizio and trained by Stan Young. Dont Waver (Favorite Cartel-Flickering), Money Flashin (First Moonflash-Royal Chamisa), Winning Blood MV (Apollitical Blood-Take A Look), Eagles Dragon (Zulu Dragon-Eagles Camp), Play Ur Cards (Docs Best Card-Feature Miss Fame) and Blackwater Bengal (Hez Our Secret-Sting Scorpion Sting) completed the field. Carriage Ride, CG A Mighty Wood and Corona Wildfire all were scratched.
UQHRA Open Derby

Freight Boss scored his second stakes victory in the $27,348 UQHRA Open Derby at Laurel Brown Racetrack on June 20.
Ridden by Uriel Dominguez, the gelding got away from the 6-post in front. They steadily held their lead throughout the 350 yards, crossing the line by a nose in :17.430, posting a 102 speed index.
Freight Boss brought home the $10,939 win- ner’s share of the purse for owner Jeffrey Smith and trainer Glade Van Tassell, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $21,753. He now has a race record of 7-3(3)-1(0)-2(0), including a victory in the South Valley Futurity last year as well as a finalist attempt in the Elko Intermountain Futurity.
Vista Equine Colorado LLC bred Freight Boss out of winner RW Red Wave, who finished third in the Ruidoso Juvenile Invitational. She has pro- duced 100% winners from three starters, including top earner Stellur, who won the Kim Didericksen Handicap and finished second in the Roche Equine Futurity. Freight Boss is her second stakes winner.
Second fastest qualifier FFD Swingin Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Jess A Swingin) ran true to form finishing second for owner Darian Burt. The Alvaro Torres trainee had Tyson Lusk in the irons.
VF Silverback (Ivory James-Perrys Folly) ran a gritty race under Jose Guzman to bank third place money for owners Kelly and Kyle Cook and trainer Jay Pitcher. The gelding finished third in the Golden Spike Futurity last year.
Liquid Courage B (FDD Dynasty-First Class Lacy B) was fourth and was followed by Fooses Tat (Foose-Wild Tat Too), LD Definitely Maby (Junior Dynasty Mountain-Barbs Blue Smoke), Kool Baby Kool (One Sweet Jess-Kool Kue Chick), Blu Angel (Stylalistic-Dashing Refusal) and Valiant Virgo (Valiant Hero-Hot As Diamonds). Makin Risky Moves was scratched.
