game effort. The $61,641 winner’s share of the purse raised his bankroll to $91,150. “The horse had trained great all week,” said Shawna Manriquez. “He really showed it the night of the race. He broke good, stayed in front, and held the lead. He was lucky he drew the inside and that was the place to be.”
Owned by Jose Meraz and trained by Shawna Manriquez, Meet Me Out Back is now a winner of two in nine lifetime starts and he has placed in five others, including a second-
place finish in the Will Rogers Juvenile Challenge in his previous start.
“He is a super chill horse to be around,” she added. “He does everything you ask of him. He trains good, eats good, and he wants to please you.”
An $18,000 graduate of the 2021 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale, Meet Me Out Back was bred in Tennessee by Bobby D. Cox. He is out of the winning mare Dianetogetcha, who won the 2005 All American Congress Futurity-G3.
Runner-up Extermynator (Tres Seis- Cartel Regards), the race favorite, just missed under jockey German Rodriguez for owner Gordon Timm and trainer Randy Smith. The Tennessee-bred gelding had won four consecutive outings for
his connections, including a win in the Horseshoe Indianapolis Juvenile Challenge and the Heartland Futurity. Like the winner, Extermynator was bred by Bobby Cox and was a $21,000 graduate of the 2021 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale.
Ms Flaming Finish (Mr Jess Perry- Flaming Chula) dueled early and held on determinedly to finish third under jockey Giovani Vazquez-Gomez for owner LG Racing and trainer Jessica Vazquez. The sorrel filly, who won this year’s Sweetwater Downs Futurity and the Crush The Curve Futurity, was bred in California by George and Sandra Villalobos. She was a $37,000 Los Alamitos Mixed Sales graduate in 2021.
Kool N Foxy (One Famous Eagle-Kool Fire) was fourth and was followed by Beep Beep Rev Rev (A Revenant-Etta Betta Zoom), Jettin Jetta (EC Jet One-PYC Dollars), The Rev Rocker (A Revenant-Mitey Moon), Lota Cruising (Lota PYC-Crazy About Corona), No Doubtt (BV Travelin Soldier-Nolet) and Itz Goin Down (KVN Corona-High Valley Girl), who was disqualified from eighth place and placed last for interference early in the race.
