Stacy Charette-Hill has long been a successful trainer, but she’s the first to acknowledge that the people who work for
her play a large role in that success. Several of them were behind Valiant Miss Priss’ journey to the winner’s circle in the $109,877 Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge Championship at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Oct. 22.
Valiant Miss Priss didn’t start until late in her 3-year-old season in 2021, which is why Charette-Hill sent her to the Q-Racing Video Prairie Meadows Distaff Challenge-G3 on Aug. 20. “I just was trying to get a little bit of earnings under her belt,” Charette-Hill said. “I thought I’d just pay her to that Challenge in Iowa, and then she wins it.”
She vied with a couple of rivals early in the 400-yard Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge Championship-G1 and then spurted away in the final yards to win wire-to-wire by 1-length in :20.137, earning an 89 speed index.
