  Corona Kool Handicap

ajority Interest became another in the
seemingly never-ending line of good horses out of the broodmare Remember Me Rose by
capturing the $20,000 Corona Kool Handicap at Los Alamitos on Oct. 8.
Though Majority Interest broke on top from the outside post under jockey Henry Lopez, Relentless Valiance quickly took over the lead. It didn’t last long, however, as Majority Interest came back to win by
a 1/2-length in :17.883 for 350 yards, posting an 85 speed index. The $11,000 winner’s share of the purse improved her earnings to $70,334.
Paul Jones trains Majority Interest for Bradbury Racing, Robyn Gordon, Jimmy Dean Harrel, and Thompson Racing. Majority Interest ran third in this year’s La Pacifica Handicap and California Breeders’ Debutante Stakes.
Dr. Steve Burns bred Majority Interest out of multiple graded stakes winner Remember Me Rose, whose record as a broodmare just keeps improving. Remember Me Rose has produced 21 winners from 28 starters. She has seven stakes winners, including 2022 All American Gold Cup-G1 winner Powerful Favorite, 2021 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity-G1 winner Bomb Cyclone, 2020 Ruidoso Futurity-G1 winner Cyber Monday, and six stakes-placed runners.
Need A Favor (Favorite Cartel-Need You Now), owned by Dr. Ed Allred, trained by Scott Willoughby, and ridden by Jesus Ayala, finished second.
Bruce and Jill Thompson’s homebred Run By Your Cartel (Corona Cartel-Run By You) ran third under jockey Adrian Loza for trainer Juan Aleman. Run By Your Cartel finished third in the Down With Debt Handicap on June 25.
Completing the field were Candy Dice (Jess Good Candy-Fodice), Lovely Evening (Seperate Interest- Moonlight Corona), and Relentless Valiance (Hes Relentless-Valiant Energy). Bizarrely was scratched.
Nuther Brother Handicap

old N Brave traveled to Los Alamitos after four
starts at Ruidoso Downs and quickly made a name for himself by winning the $20,000 Nuther Brother Handicap in his Los Alamitos debut on Oct. 8.
Breaking from the 8-post under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, Bold N Brave was never far from the lead. He powered home to score by a 1/2-length in :15.584, good for an 89 speed index. The $11,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his earnings to $28,306. This was the first stakes victory of his career.
Heath Taylor trains Bold N Brave for owner Carmen Villalobos. At Ruidoso, he had won twice, ran second once, and finished third in the Ruidoso Downs Juvenile Challenge Stakes-G3. His race record now stands at 5-3-1-1.
Julianna Hawn Holt bred Bold N Brave in Texas and sold him at the 2021 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $90,000 to HV Ranch LLC. He is out of 2013 Heritage Place Futurity-G1 winner Big Biz Perry. The mare has produced four starters, all winners.
Adrian Loza rode AJ Run For Cash (Apollitical Jess-Shyann Cash) to second for owner Boardshorts Stables and trainer Juan Aleman. AJ Run For Cash was coming off of three consecutive victories, including the Firecracker Futurity on July 4.
Mr Secret Cartel (Mr Ease Cartel-Secret Forest) ran third with Oscar Peinado aboard for owner Margarito Farias and trainer Jorge Farias. Mr Secret Cartel ran second in the California Breeders’ Freshman Stakes on July 30.
Completing the field were Bravery (Fly Thru The Fire-Alpha Female), El Aventurero (Docs
Best Card-Copauino Diva), Apollitical Dynamite (Apollitical Jess-Runawayheart), Remember Her (Kiddy Up-Remembering Florence), Ima Sixy Man (Corona Cartel-Jess So Sixy), and Imm Born To Fly (Apollitical Spirit-Flash N The Boys). Doctor Schecter was scratched.
Sound Dash Handicap

reeder Juliana Hawn Holt was represented by her
second stakes winner on the Oct. 8 Los Alamitos card when Famous Shining Star won the Sound Dash Handicap that followed Bold N Brave in the Nuther Brother Handicap.
Fourth at the start under jockey Erasmo Gasca, Famous Shining Star gathered herself together and got up to lead by a 1/2-length at the stretch. She hit the board 3/4-lengths on top in :15.416 to earn a 95 speed index. The $19,250 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $100,028.
Johnny Trotter owns Famous Shining Star, and Jose Flores trains the 4-year-old filly. This was her second stakes win, following the Virginia Hyland Stakes earlier this year. Trotter and Stan Sigman bought Famous Shining Star from Holt for $250,000 at the 2019 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.
Holt bred Famous Shining Star in Texas from the graded stakes winning mare Thewayouwantmetoo, who won the 2004 Rainbow Futurity-G1. Thewayouwantmetoo has produced seven winners from 12 starters, including A Revenant, who won the Rainbow Futurity in 2016 and was voted Champion Two-Year-Old Colt that year.
Gentry Farms’ homebred In My Heart (Apollitical Jess-Heartbeat) finished second under jockey Jesus Ayala for trainer Juan Aleman. The 4-year-old filly won this year’s Check Her Twice Handicap and the Go Josie Go Handicap.
Dr. Steve Burns’ homebred Go To Girl (Favorite Cartel-Remember Me Rose) ran third under jockey Oscar Peinado for trainer Mike Casselman.
Completing the field were Astranomincal (Dominyun-Quick Moon Sign), More Than Looks (Favorite Cartel-Look Her Over), Catalina Rocket (A Mere Chocolate-Catahawk), La Reina Del Sur 1 (Favorite Cartel-Go First N Famous), and Reason To Fly MV (Good Reason SA-Take A Look).
