WRS VALENTINO
Iby Danny Camp
n a race where six out of ten horses ran over a 100
speed index, WRS Valentino ran the fastest. WRS Valentino won $109,080 Indiana Championship Stakes at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Sept. 29, having won this race in 2020, and then placing second by just a neck in last years’ event.
WRS Valentino has been on fire, having won
his last six out of eight starts. He broke second
and was third at the first call, but with the help of jockey Juan Marquez and by mid-stretch, they were a neck in front. They hit their stride and finished 1/2-length to the good at the wire and stopped the clock in :21.611 for a 109 speed index and a New Track Record. The six-year-old gelding earned the $59,994 winner’s share of the purse, which ups his lifetime earnings to $475,240. His race record stands at 11 wins out of 21 career starts.
His team includes owner/breeder Williams Racing Stables Inc. and trainer Randy M. Smith. Bred in Kentucky, WRS Valentino is out of the mare WRS Kissandteller. She has produced three winners from five starters with earnings of $531,613.

CARTERS LAW
Gby Michael Compton
ordon Timm’s Carters Law remains
undefeated this season after overcoming trouble at the start to win the $121,800 Sterlie Bertram Memorial Stakes in impressive fashion at Horseshoe Indianapolis on Oct. 22.
Ridden by Juan Marquez, Carters Law stumbled at the start of the 400-yard test but quickly gathered herself and surged to the front. The 2-1 race favorite dueled in the lane with 20-1 long shot Sweet Beach and edged clear of that rival in the late stages to score by a 1/2-length at the finish. In winning the initial stakes race of her career, Carters Law stopped the timer in :20.096, earning a speed index of 90.
Trained by Randy Smith, who also saddled the runner-up Sweet Beach. Carters Law is now a winner in five of seven lifetime starts including her last three consecutive races. Carters Law crossed the wire first in last year’s Jaguar Rocket Futurity at Horseshoe Indianapolis but was disqualified and placed fourth for interference at the start.
Gordon Timm home-bred Carters Law in Indiana, out of the lightly raced mare Zoomin Zoey B, who placed in three of four lifetime starts during her racing career. She has produced three winners from five starters including two stakes winners.
Runner-up Sweet Beach (Escondido Beach-Chicks Sweet Donna) was prominent throughout under jockey James Flores for his owner Keith Bode.
High Rolling Seize (Seize The Win-Crossing The Brazos), with Shanley Jackson aboard, finished third for owner Glenn Graff and trainer Matt Frazier.
