The sire of Bolero was Eight Thirty, a horse that has been a speed influence. He was a speed horse that carried his speed over a distance including a win in the Suburban Stakes at 1 1⁄4 miles. He won the Toboggan Stakes-G3 at 7 furlongs as well as the Flash Stakes at 5 furlongs and the Wilson Stakes at 6 furlongs.
 Eight Thirty was sired by Pilate by Friar Rock by Rock Sand and Pilate’s dam was Herodias by The Tetrarch. The dam of Eight Thirty was Dinner Time by High Time. High Time was sired by Ultimus by Commando by Domino and the dam of High Time was Noonday by Domino. The dam of Dinner Time was Seaplane by Man O’ War.
Bolero was out of Stepwisely by Wise Counsellor and her dam was Stephanie by Stefan The Great. Stepwisely was a half-sister to Quickly, the dam of the great Quarter Horse sire Depth Charge and the Triple Crown winner Count Fleet.
The sire record for Bolero shows that he sired 534 foals with 353 winners and 34 stakes winners. One of his stakes winners was Bolero Rose, winner of the Continental-Denver
Boy, winner of $35,500, and Voluntarily, winner of $9,330 and she was the
dam of several winners including the $100,000 winner Irish Vol and Irish Volunteer, who set a New Track Record for 4 furlongs in a time of :46 at Rillito Downs. Apoora was the dam of one Quarter Horse foal in Bug Baron, an ROM runner by Lady Bug’s Moon.
 Bolero, the sire of Apoora was a race winner of 16 races with six seconds
and four thirds in 39 starts. He was the winner of seven stakes races with his first one being the Del Mar Derby (8.5f), but the rest of his stakes wins came in six and seven furlong races including the Pacific Handicap (6f) in World Record Time of 1:08 1/5 and the San Carlos Handicap (7f) in World Record Time of 1:21. His third record setting race came at Tanforan going in a 6 furlong race in a time of 1:10 4/5.
