Here is a pedigree note in that Tiptoe Tune is sired by Spy Song and out of Apoora by Bolero. Crimson Saint, the dam of Terlingua, is sired by Crimson Satan by Spy Song and out of Bolero Rose by Bolero. Terlingua raced 17 times with seven wins, four seconds and one third, with six of her seven wins coming in stakes races from 5 1⁄2 furlongs to a mile. She won the Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes-G2 over males
at 6 furlongs. She set Stakes Records in the Santa Ynez Stakes-G3 with a time of 1:21.20 for the 7 furlong race and the La Brea Stakes going the 7 furlongs in a time of 1:20.80.
The dam of Apoora was Lazy Me by Pavot by Case Ace. Pavot was a stakes winner of seven stakes at two and was named the Champion Two-Year-Old Colt
in 1944. He won such races that year as the Belmont Futurity run at 6.5 furlongs, and the Hopeful Stakes at 7 furlongs. He came back at three to win the Belmont Stakes at a mile and a half. Case Ace, the sire of Pavot, was sired by Teddy and out of Sweetheart by Ultimus. Case Ace is the broodmare sire of Raise A Native, the sire of Raise Your Glass, the sire of Special Effort, the only All American Triple Crown winner. The dam of Lazy Me was Sleepytime Gal by Questionaire, who is the sire of Requested, the sire of Little Request, the broodmare sire of horses like Streakin Six.
Burbank felt strongly about the sire of Sparkling Tip. He said this to Jank, “Sparkling Tip’s sire was Diamond Charge by the Thoroughbred Hy Diamond from Lovely Luptia by Depth Charge, also a Thoroughbred. Diamond Charge was AAAT, a stakes winner and a record holder at 330 yards at Ruidoso Downs. He was also a leading sire of ROM qualifiers.”
