QUID PRO QUO
by Michael Compton
Quid Pro Quo bounced back from a disappointing 6th-place finish as the odds-on favorite in his trial to the LQHBA Million Futurity to spring a mild
surprise in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile-RG2 at Fair Grounds on Dec. 11.
Ridden by Bobby Ransom, Quid Pro Quo raced in 6th position early in the 350-yard fixture before ranging up alongside the leaders in the lane. He grabbed the lead close to home and despite lugging out late, fended off Gamefaceprize to score by 3/4-lengths at the finish. In capturing the initial stakes race of his young career, Quid Pro Quo, who was dispatched at odds of 14-1, stopped the timer in :17.583 for a speed index of 99.
In winning for the 4th time in 7 lifetime starts, Quid Pro Quo picked up the $45,000 winner’s share
of the purse which increased his bankroll to $93,132. The talented youngster was also a finalist in the Lee Berwick Futurity-G1 at Delta Downs over the summer.

by Michael Compton
Odds-on race favorite Dirtwater Dash proved a popular winner of the $100,0000 Louisiana Champions Day Derby-RG3 at Fair Grounds
on Dec. 11, leaving nine rivals in the dust with a 1/2-length score in the 400-yard event.
With jockey Everardo Rodriguez aboard, Dirtwater Dash broke alertly from the 10-gate and enjoyed a clean trip from the far outside. He closed resolutely in the lane and got up late to win clear at the finish. The three-year-old gray gelding stopped the timer in :19.743, not far off of the 2014 track record
of :19.428 set by Fast Talkin Henry. Dirtwater Dash’s final clocking earned a speed index of 107.

Opelousas Stakes-RG3
LIFEINTHEFASTLANES
by John Moorehouse
Running exclusively in her home state, Lifeinthefastlanes continues to thrive. The four- year-old filly racked up yet another stakes win on Nov.
13 at Evangeline Downs, finishing first by a neck in the Opelousas Stakes-RG3.
Bred by Kay & Wade Loup Jr. in Louisiana, Lifeinthefastlanes has done all her racing in her home state. She now holds 10 wins in 16 starts and has a 2-2-1 record in 6 starts this year. She came increasingly closer to the half-million milestone in earnings, banking a $24,000 payday for this win and setting
her lifetime earnings at $481,881. Lifeinthefastlanes won six straight races in 2020, a streak that included the LQHBA Breeders’ Derby-G3, the Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Derby-RG3 and the Vinton Stakes.
Trained by Kenneth Roberts Sr., the filly left little doubt in this one. She broke from the 7-hole and was running a close 2nd at the 1st call and going into the stretch, then made a driving finish to reach the line first by a neck, emerging at the front of a blanket finish. The 400-yard trip took :19.656 for a 94 speed index. David Alvarez had the riding assignment.
The Loups bred Lifeinthefastlanes out of Pantherinthefastlane, a 2008 mare whom they also own. She is also a multiple stakes winner on the Louisiana Quarter Horse circuit.
Lightemupwithcharm (Sizzlin Cartel-Grace Filled Charm), a 27-1 longshot, was second under Luciano Duenez for owner Saul Dorado and trainer Willie Simien Jr. Swamp Eagle (Heza Fast Dash-Gee Whit) hit the board in third under Ubaldo Luna for owner Fausto Mendoza and trainer Joel Huitron. The remaining order of finish saw post-time favorite Apollitical B Snow (Apollitical Blood-Mary Snow) in fourth, followed by One Fast Perry (Fast Prize Jordan-De Bell Perry), Royal Jumpn King (Jumpn Chic-Mary Darlin TB) and Hezjessmagic (Sir Runaway Dash-Shez Jess Magic).
