Paul Jones trains Jess Lyndes Reason and owns her with Thompson Racing Inc. and Turner Farms. The filly has now won 3 and qualified for the All American Oaks. Michael Casselman trains Go To Girl for owner-breeder Dr. Steve Burns. Go To Girl won 3 in a row at Los Alamitos earlier this year.

JUST A DASHA HERO
by John Moorehouse
The partnership of Bland Family Investments, Robyn Gordon and S-Quarter K LLC own Just A Dasha Hero. The three-year-old gelding got to the winner’s circle for the first time in two starts this year and logged his second overall victory in seven outs.
Breaking from the outside position in an eight- horse field, Just A Dasha Hero was running in the middle of the pack then made his move to grab the lead near the midpoint of the 400-yard race. Ahead by a nose going into the stretch, the gelding pulled away during the final yards to hit the wire with a 1/2-length lead over Tuckk.
It was a nice bounceback effort for Just A Dasha Hero, who previously made an unsuccessful bid
to qualify for the Los Alamitos Super Derby. Jose Flores trains Just A Dasha Hero, who finished in :19.767 for a 92 speed index. Erasmo Gasca had the riding assignment.
S-Quarter K LLC also bred Just A Dasha Hero and owns his dam, Dasha Freda, a 2002 mare. Dasha Freda won the 2009 California Derby Challenge-G3. Dasha Freda’s brood includes Fearless Hero, a full-brother to Just A Dasha Hero.
Flores also trains Tuckk (Tres Seis-Shez Jess Nice), the runner-up in this race. The gelding is owned by Bobby Simmons and Johnny Trotter. Cruz Mendez was aboard. College Scandal (Coronas Leaving You- Fovee) placed third under Ramon Sanchez for owner Gentry Farms and trainer Juan Aleman.
Roving Kind (Kiddy Up-Escape The Fire),
Karl Strauss (Foose-Babe On The Fly), Everlong (Apollitical Jess-Foo Who), Go To Girl (Favorite Cartel-Remember Me Rose) and From Above (Kiddy Up-Celestial Being TB) completed the field.

EMPTY PROMISE
by Michael Cusortelli
Empto Promise broke on top from the 4-gate and had 3/4-lengths at the first call. Her margin was down to 1/2-length at the top of the stretch and she held off the gaining 2-1 second choice A Pollitical Candy V to win by a neck at the wire.
Empty Promise covered the distance in :17.659 for a 92 speed index. Diego Herrera rode the brown daughter of the Separatist stallion Seperate Interest for trainer Valentin Zamudio.
Empty Promise was bred in California by Dr. Steve Burns, and she was a $30,000 yearling purchase at the 2020 Los Alamitos Equine Sale.
The filly is out of Babe On The Fly, a winning and multiple graded stakes placed daughter of the Special Effort stallion Strawfly Special. Empty Promise is a half sister to eight stakes winners, including 2014 Ruidoso Derby-G1 winner Rock You and 2015 Golden State Million Futurity-G1 winner Little Talks. Her second dam, the Streakin Six mare Six On The Beach, won the 1992 Just A Second Stakes at Trinity Meadows.
Raced in three states, including Arizona and New Mexico, Empty Promise has won three of eight outs -- including two of three at the 350- yard distance -- and the $9,800 winner’s share of this purse from her first stakes score pushed her bankroll to $32,679.
Empty Promise was a finalist in the $61,000 Desert Classic Futurity at Turf Paradise on April 28 after finishing second in her April 5 trial in her first start. She broke her maiden by 1/2-length at The Downs at Albuquerque in a $26,600 maiden for fillies.
A Pollitical Candy V (Apollitical Jess-Rock Candy SA) took second for his owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC. Erasmo Gasca rode the California-bred gelding for trainer Jaime Gomez. The gelding previously won two races at Los Alamitos.
Nevada Charles (Fly Thru The Fire-Nymph) finished third for owner Ed Allred. Victor Salazar rode the homebred gelding for trainer Scott Willoughby. The gelding broke his maiden in August at Los Alamitos.
Pentos (Kiddy Up-Serious Intensions) ran fourth, 2 1/4 lengths behind Empty Promise. Set For It was scratched.
