Making her first start against stakes com- pany, Sam Brookover’s Seb Ember won the $25,000, 870-yard Covered Bridges Stakes-G3 at
Prairie Meadows on Sept. 17.
Seb Ember broke well from the five-gate, went
4-wide in the turn and drove clear to the wire. The filly stopped the timer in :46.243 while defeating Going To Hollywood by a 1/2-length and earning the $14,500 winner’s share of the $25,000 purse. Stormy Smith rode the bay four-year-old daughter of Walk Thru Fire for trainer Charlton Hunt, earning a 90 speed index. Seb Ember has now won five of 17 races, banking $58,010.
The bay filly was bred in Texas by
Clarence Scharbauer III, and she is out of the Thoroughbred Wisestar. She has produced 100% winners from 2 starters. Seb Ember is her first stakes winner. Seb Ember’s second dam, the Broad Brush mare Star Of Broadway, won the 1998 Beaumont Stakes-G2 at Keeneland.
Going To Hollywood (Heza Fast Dash-Alcea) pocketed the $4,500 runner-up share of the purse for owner Matt Frazier. Andrew Samaniego rode the Louisiana-bred seven-year-old gelding for trainer Randy Weidner. One Sweet Step (One Sweet Jess-Stepperupper) ran third, 3/4-length behind the second-place finisher, while banking $2,750 for his owner, B/B Wessels LLC. Jansen Melancon rode the six-year-old Iowa-bred gelding for trainer Alex Wessels.
Holy Storm (Red Storm Cat-Holy White Socks), the 7-5 favorite in the seven-horse field, finished fourth. The remaining order of finish was Apollos Dashn Cowboy (Dashair-Apollos Cowgirl), Cowgirlsrunningrebel (Furrtreeous- Apollos Cowgirl), and Faster Than Hasta (Hasta Be Fast-Leadmetoyourladder). Future Of Iowa Stakes
STREAKIN JESSZEE

Sent to post as the odds-on favorite in a full field of 10 state-bred distaffers, Streakin Jesszee romped to a wire-to-wire 2 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 Future of Iowa Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Sept. 25. Streakin Jesszee went 350 yards in :17.663
for a 93 speed index under jockey Stormy Smith. The mare secured the win for owner Jeff State. Alex Wessels prepped the 5-year-old daughter of Champion Mr Jess Perry.
Streakin Jesszee has won five of 16 starts, and the $22,500 winner’s share of the purse bumped her earn- ings to $103,851. Her two lifetime stakes wins include a 1-length victory in last year’s Future of Iowa Stakes, she was also a finalist in the 2018 Jim Bader Futurity.
Streakin Jesszee was bred by Joe B. Allen and Dallas Blakley. Out of Golly Zee, a homebred win- ner, who won the first division of the 110-yard Texas Twister Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park in 2011. Her second dam, Zee Ann, won two stakes in 2016, including the 440-yard Mockingbird Handicap at Sam Houston.
Kays Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Real Royal Down) finished second and banked $9,000 for her owner, Kay J. Sage. Berkley Packer rode the homebred six- year-old mare for trainer Alex Wessels.
Miss Kool Wagon (Lil Kool Wagon-Miss Jessae Eleven) ran third, 2 3/4-lengths behind Streakin Jesszee. Alfredo Triana Jr. rode the 4-year-old filly for owner Rafael Ruacho Cervantes and trainer Zachary Quezada.
Apollitical Queen (Apollitical Jess-Heros
Queen) finished in fourth, followed by Lil Kool Runaway (Lil Kool Wagon-Lil Blue Runaway), Queens Dashing Eagle (One Dashing Eagle-Queen Of Anywhere), Lil Gabby J R (Talkalota Bull-Lil Puddle), Shesa Favorite Gal (Favorite Cartel-Shesa Eye Of Rose), Regal Dynasty (FDD Dynasty- Regally Rare), and Blind Spot Bandit (Jess Louisiana Blue-Especially Lavish).
Terrace Hill Stakes
IRIS ROYAL JESS

Multiple stakes winner Iris Royal Jess successfully defended his crown in the $50,000 Terrace Hill Stakes at Prairie Meadows on Sept. 25, winning the
400-yard dash for the second straight year.. With Stormy Smith aboard, Iris Royal Jess
showed good speed away from the gate, grabbing the early lead. The six-year-old gray gelding maintained a clear advantage through the lane and went on to win by 3/4-lengths over CR Hez the Man and jockey Edwin Escobedo. Iris Royal Jess stopped the timer in 20.096, earning an 88 speed index.
In last year’s Terrace Hill Stakes, Iris Royal Jess led from start to finish, scoring by 1 1/4-lengths
as the odds-on choice in the final start of his 2020 campaign.
Owned by B/B Wessels LLC and trained by Alex Wessels, Iris Royal Jess is now a winner in 11 of 17 career starts. The $23,500 winner’s share of the purse increased his earnings to $235,033. Bred in Iowa by Warren Garrels, Iris Royal Jess is out of the lightly raced Pure Royal Dash.
Stakes winner CR Hez the Man (Heza Fast Dash-LW Evening Lajolla) finished a game second after veering in at the start. The four-year-old gelding is owned by Richard and Curt Tobin and is trained by Jason Olmstead.
Gracies Tuition (Lil Kool Wagon-Majestic Jet Black) and jockey David Pinon turned in a strong late bid to finish third. The multiple stakes-placed four-year-old gelding is owned by James Leeper and is conditioned by Manuel Campos.
Kiss Me Anywhere (Kiss My Hocks-Paint Me Anywhere) was fourth. Real Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Real Royal Down) and TS Dash To The End (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Dash Of Perry) finished in a dead heated for fifth, followed by A Starry Starry Nite (Racy Casanova-Unveil) and Lil Romance Wagon (Lil Kool Wagon-Chargin to the Lead).
