earnings to $174,596. In her only previous outing, Mrs Kennedy TLC captured her trial dash on March 6, dueling throughout to score by a neck for Alvarez in :15.90.
“The win in her futurity trial was very difficult,” Alvarez shared through an interpreter. “Today, she ran much better and a lot faster. Winning this was the best thing that ever happened to me.”
The win also proved gratifying to the
filly’s connections, who were patient with their precocious charge early in her training and were rewarded with a graded stakes win.
“She had some hoof issues early in her training, but is sound and very talented,” said Lopez, the owner of the filly. “I owned Ed O, who did very well in Louisiana two years ago. (I am) hoping for the same success with Mrs Kennedy TLC.”
Bred in Louisiana by Jorge Haddad, Mrs Kennedy TLC was a $6,500 graduate of the LQHBA Yearling Sale. Mrs. Kennedy TLC is out of the Grade 3-placed Louisiana Senator mare Time For The Senator and hails from the family of Champion Apollitical Jess and three-time Champion Apollitical Time.
Runner-up Jrs Tonyas Majestic (Majestic Cartel-Tonyas Statement) finished second for owner Long Leaf Racing and trainer Charles Shults. Jeff Fulton and Julien Stevens III bred the brown colt in Louisiana. Jrs. Tonyas Majestic finished third in his trial dash in his career debut.
“I didn’t ride him in the trials, but Everardo talked to me about him,” said rider Raul Ramirez Jr. “The colt warmed up well and ran a game second.”
Ball, who saddled the winner, also sent out third-place finisher Louisiana Freight
(Freighttrain B-The Louisiana Dash). Owned by Isidro Martinez, Louisiana Freight
won his trial and was an $18,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate. Bred in Louisiana
by Jumonville Farms/R Blanchet, Louisiana Freight is the first foal out of the Tempting Dash mare The Louisiana Dash, a half-sister to Grade 1-placed performers Dutcher and Eye On Corona.
Jess Sea Louisiana (The Louisiana Cartel-
Jess Sea), Jeg Fascination (Freighttrain B-Ja Fascination), Toast To Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Sante Mon Amie), Onemorewildtrain (Freighttrain B-One More Card), TTT Ivan Power (Ivan James-Oreille Memories), RH Querido Ruperto (Mr Piloto-Tinys First Velocity) and Little Bill Daggett (Freighttrain B-Alanza Dee) completed the order of finish.
