Mrs Kennedy TLC remained undefeated in her first two career starts with a determined front- running victory in the $382,658 Mardi Gras Futurity-RG2 at Louisiana Downs on March 27.
Racing for owner Edwardo Lopez, Mrs Kennedy TLC, with Arturo Alvarez aboard, grabbed the early lead away from the starting gate in the 300-yard test. The bay filly quickly distanced herself from her nine rivals, opening a 1-length advantage. She maintained a clear lead through the lane, ultimately crossing the finish line 3/4-length in front of Jrs Tonyas Majestic who finished second under jockey Raul Ramirez Jr. Louisiana Freight, with Heriberto Aguilar-Orozco in the irons, closed fastest late to finish third.
Trained by Barbara Ball, Mrs Kennedy TLC went wire-to-wire and stopped the timer in :15.595 for a 92 speed index, also giving Alvarez his first ever victory in a futurity. The $172,196 winner’s share of the purse increased the filly’s
