Co-Owners Lance Moore, Brad Williams and Don Forbes were on hand to see Jes Angel win the Black Gold Oaks Futurity. They join jockey Bryan Candanosa in the winner’s circle.
“We are looking at the derbies for next year. Maybe the Sam Houston Derby or the Oaks in Ruidoso,” said trainer Marc Jungers.
“I’ve been blessed with a good team and
it does take a team effort. Our rider Bryan Candanosa is a good guy and a hard worker, he fits this filly like a glove,” Jungers continued. Jes An Angel’s team includes owners Lance R. Moore, Brad Williams and Don Forbes, with Jungers in charge of conditioning.
Jes An Angel was bred in Texas by Jerry Windham. She is out of the winning mare Ms Kates Angel., who has produced three foals. Jes An Angel is her only starter.
“This filly was a $10,000 purchase from the Heritage Place Sale,” said Jungers. “She was kind of a handful to begin with, she’s wound pretty tight. We sometimes have to remind her not every day is race day. Now she has found her place and she is nice to be around. At one point, she was cantankerous about loading in the gate. We have worked with her and she is good in there now. We know if she loads good, she will fire. She is all business when she walks up on the track. She is good to gallop, but a fellow has to pay attention or she will get away. We thought enough of her to supplement into the All American trials.”
Fastest qualifier Candys Special Power (Power Jam TB-Candys Special Wagon) fought the good fight to come away with second place money for owner Ken O’Brien
and trainer Jesus R Ruiz. Agustin Silva was handling the reins. Candys Special Power broke her maiden in the trial for this race.
Cartel Kisses (Kiss My Hocks-Midnight Cartel) had the second fastest qualifying time and she ran a steady and even race, crossing the line in third place. She is owned by Bobbie Rice and Larry L Rice, and is trained by Heath Taylor. Rodrigo Vallejo was in the irons. Cartel Kisses was coming off of a five consecutive win streak including the Easy Jet
Stakes and the Rainbow Invitational Stakes. Finishing in fourth place was Apollitical Chick V (Apollitical Jess-Me Chickie), who
was followed by Relentless Diamond (Hes Relentless-PYC Diamond), Fox News (FDD Dynasty-Summer Love Song), JND Wagon (Lil Kool Wagon-Lady Hiclass), Sassie Savannah (KVN Corona-Waitin On Mindy), Mrs KVN (KVN Corona-Little Surfer), USA All The Way (FDD Dynasty-Jessta Lil Spitfire) completing the field.
Trainer Marc Jungers congratulates Jes An Angel and leads her and jockey Bryan Candanosa to the winner’s circle.
