by Tracy Gantz
Mi Moonflash made two consecutive stakes wins when she captured the $40,000 New Mexico Classic Distaff Stakes at Zia Park on Oct.
29, previously winning the Champagne Lane Stakes at Albuquerque on Oct. 1. The mare had finished second in this same race last year, but this time took home first prize.
Breaking from the 10-post under jockey Alfredo Sigala, Mi Moonflash vied for the lead from the outset. She came on strongly toward the end of the 350 yards to score by a neck in :17.458 for a 101 speed index. The $24,000 winner’s share raised her earnings to $237,157.
Todd Fincher trains Mi Moonflash for owners Pierre Jean Amestoy Jr., Leslie A. Amestoy, and Roger K. Beasley. Las Damas Handicap-G2
KISS THRU FIRE
by Tracy Gantz
Nearly every filly and mare in the $75,000 Las Damas Handicap-G2 at Los Alamitos on Nov. 19 was a stakes winner. That’s why it took a
Champion to win the race, as Kiss Thru Fire proved. Kiss Thru Fire and jockey Jesus Ayala were
behind Pattys Saint at the first call by just a neck, but by mid-stretch they had taken over the lead. While other rivals refused to give up, Kiss Thru Fire prevailed by a neck in :19.837 for 400 yards, posting a speed index of 90. The $41,250 winner’s share of the purse boosted her lifetime earnings to $708,025.
Juan Aleman trains Kiss Thru Fire for the Gentry Farms of Robert Kirk Gentry and Robbi Force. Last year’s Champion Aged Mare, Kiss Thru Fire was winning her eighth stakes, including consecutive runnings of the Charger Bar Handicap-G1.
Gentry Farms bred Kiss Thru Fire in Kentucky from the graded stakes winning homebred mare Fredaville. Champion Aged Mare of 2012, Fredaville has produced five winners from seven starters.
Robert Harrison’s homebred Pattys Saint (Jess Got Easier-SP Saint Patty) ran second under jockey Jesus Virgen for trainer Heath Hillman. The 4-year-old filly had won all four of her previous starts this year, including the Mildred N. Vessels Memorial Handicap-G1.
Nymphette (Fly Thru The Fire-Nymph), bred and owned by Edward C. Allred, finished third under jockey Henry Lopez for trainer by James Glenn Jr. The 3-year-old filly ran second in the Mildred N. Vessels and won her other two starts.

by Danny Camp
Lawless Wallace got his first stakes victory in the $50,000 Los Alamitos 2 Million Juvenile, a 350- yard stakes held at Los Alamitos on Dec. 11.
Lawless Wallace stepped away from the 4-post with jockey Jimmy Brooks aboard. They dueled throughout the first half and then the veteran rider supplied plenty of encouragement and they managed to finish by a neck in front, stopping the timer at :17.550 to earn a 95 speed index.
Lawless Wallace also earned the $27,500 winner’s share of the purse and now has a lifetime bankroll worth $46,420. His race record stands at four wins out of six career starts.
The colt is owned by Ronald S., Melany M., and Brad Shalz and is trained by Eddie Willis. R Ladys Dynasty (FDD Dynasty-Lady Eagle 12) showed a little anxiety in the gate but she overcame that to finish second for owners Bobbie Rice and Larry L. Rice. Trainer Eddie D. Willis had jockey Oscar Peinado in the irons. She was coming off of back-to-back wins from her two previous outs.
Apollitical Dynamite (Apollitical Jess- Runawayheart) placed third under jockey James Flores for owners Ana Faces and Ruse Ranch LLC and trainer Heath Taylor. He won the Sam Houston Juvenile Challenge-G3 on June 16.
