TOMORROW’S MEN
In the beginning…
Tomorrow’s Men was developed following Jeanefer’s Rayne Fellowship, which saw her researching and developing
ideas alongside the Metropolitan Police and key members of the Criminal Justice System (Diamond Initiative) as well as
with other social welfare and arts organisations. Jeanefer researched the current needs of these organisations in order
to establish how dance activity can positively impact on the development of young men.
Following this, Jeanefer set up Tomorrow’s Men with the aim of addressing the disengagement of boys and young men
from society and to support vulnerable young men build better relationships.
She developed a series of pilot projects with East London Dance and WAC Performing Arts and Media College, in
which boys were asked to invite their older role models to weekly Lads and Dads dance sessions. The sessions were
hugely successful and demonstrated the need for more projects that brought young men together with their role models in
a shared environment.
Since then….
Tomorrow’s Men has grown to be a project that can meet many needs and Jeanefer tailors each project for the schools,
organisations and young men she is working with.
