JEANEFER JEAN-CHARLES
TEACHER / MOVEMENT DIRECTOR / CHOREOGRAPHER / CREATIVE CONSULTANT
Jeanefer Jean-Charles is a qualified secondary school teacher who began her career at a school
in south London, setting up a dance department and teaching GCSE Dance. She then continued
teaching dance extensively in schools, theatres and other arts centres both nationally and
internationally including, South Africa, Montreal, Italy, Germany, Azerbaijan & France.
As a teacher and Creative Consultant with a passion for nurturing and developing creative
talent, Jeanefer has trained and mentored teachers, artists and producers and has led projects
within schools and arts organisations for over 25 years. Jeanefer’s Learning and Participation
programmes offer both pupils and teachers inspirational dance training and learning opportunities,
enriching the school life.
Jeanefer’s career in the arts began working across theatre, dance, television and film, including Co-Artistic Director of her
company Bullies Ballerinas Jazz Productions, touring nationally and internationally. Today, as a Movement Director and
Choreographer of large scale performances, the success of her work is in her unique creative process of empowering
and skilling up teams of artists, whilst bringing together the talents, strengths and shared stories of communities in
inspiring and unforgettable ways.
Her highlights include: all four of the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremonies, The Queen’s
Coronation Festival at Buckingham Palace, award winning Derry / Londonderry UK City of
Culture, Rugby League World Cup, The Handshake for Walt Disney’s Parent Trap, Beijing
Cultural Olympiad Festival on the Great Wall of China, the first World Record Breaking Big
Dance on Trafalgar Square commissioned by the Mayor of London and Roald Dahl’s City of the
Unexpected.
