Since 2015, Empowered by Light, an outreach of the
Lutheran Church in Liberia, has provided resources that f u n d a s o l a r l i g h t
give single mothers access to education in 9 rural t h a t m a k e s s t u d y
communities. The 90 Empowered by Light students in
t i m e p o s s i b l e .
grades 6-12 in Nimba and Bong Counties range in age from
14-36 years.

T H E R E A R E C H A L L E N G E S

Past civil wars, economic and food insecurity, an unreliable
infrastructure, and the Covid-19 pandemic impact every
family in Liberia. Young women who become pregnant are
not allowed to attend school.
