WHY THIS GIFT MATTERS!
In a world filled with uncertainty, people displaced by fires, floods, hurricanes,
political unrest and war are in desperate need of shelter and warmth.
Lutheran World Relief works with partner agencies worldwide to distribute volunteer-
made quilts, hygiene kits, infant layettes and school kits that meet basic needs.
$13 million worth of quilts and kits are distributed each year. It costs $1.3 million to
deliver them.
First Lutheran Church’s quilting group shipped 100 quilts to Lutheran World Relief’s
regional distribution center in November 2022. Bar codes on each box enable the
congregation to track the quilts’ destinations.
Quilters contribute their expertise and often purchase their own materials. Your Gifts
of Hope will purchase quilt batting and fabric and assist with shipping costs.
