To help others explore the possibilities of installing a
solar system, we (MNLGA and the University of Maryland
Extension) are organizing a Tech Day dedicated to
solar systems for nurseries, greenhouses and landscape
companies. This event will be held on December 5, 2024.
We will start this event with a couple of presentations at
our new CMREC building in Ellicott City, MD. We will then
visit 3-4 nurseries and landscape companies that have
installed various types of solar systems. Participants will
have a chance to talk to fellow growers and landscape
installers who put in these solar systems. We will
encourage participants to ask a lot of questions and help
them determine if these systems will be a good fit for their
operations. A

Since much of the newer equipment will rely on portable electric power

sources that will need to be charged with electricity, we will need to

figure out how to afford increasingly expensive electric supply sources.
