ABSTRACT
The new compounds and derivatives for (2-(N-(2-
hydroxyethyl)imino)polyvinylpyrrolidine) were prepared. The chemical
structures of the prepared compounds were investigated by using IR, H
1
NMR and GPC. the 2-(N-(2-hydroxyethyl)imino)polyvinylpyrrolidine
and its Ionic Liquids have been studied as corrosion inhibitors for mild
steel in 1 M HCl solution using different techniques such as
electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic
Polarization (POL) at different temperature 298, 303, 323 and 333 K. The
thermodynamic parameters (ΔGºads, ΔH* and ΔS*) were evaluated. These
compounds obey with Langmuir isotherm model. The film formation
from corrosion product on the steel surface confirmed by XRD, SEM and
EDX techniques. The results show that these compounds act as efficient
inhibitors for mild steel in 1 M HCl solution
Keywords: corrosion protection, polarization, impedance, XRD, SEM and EDX.
