Backyard on Saturday, and the added jobs the weekend was a little bit of a blur. All that said my family and I had a great weekend. We got to see a lot of our barbe- cue family and welcome in some new members. It's so much fun hanging out at this event. The campfires, the stories, the laughs, cooking, and random shenanigans make all the work worthwhile. Our sea- son has just started, but we're already looking for- ward to getting back to Isanti Co. Fairgrounds in 2022 to do this again.

Minnesota in May is always a good time, this was the first contest we competed in back when our BBQ Journey began in 2017 and one we look forward to yearly.
This weekend was a touch warmer than 2017 and we were ec- static to be able to spend time with the #mnbbqcrew and meet many other contenders in both the master series and backyard contest from all over Mid- west and as far as the east coast.
Our efforts Friday night yielded a 2nd place call in the Turkey Smoke divi-
sion and we were able to walk away with an 8th place call in Chicken on Saturday.
Hats off to all the organiz- ers and sup- porters of the contest, this was a well- run event that will be sure to con- tinue to draw top KCBS teams.

Judges! We can't get enough of great judges! This year's MN in May included a KCBS judge certification class on Thurs- day night. I took my
first turn at table captaining during the class - something I'd been wanting to do for a while. We are excited to have ap- proximately 60 new judges join our BBQ community.
Our contest had 102 teams across the Master's and Back- yard divisions. I helped John Scharff- billig organize over 130 judges for the contests on Friday
