lone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
These words by Helen Keller ring true when reflecting
on the incredible amount of work accomplished by
the Community Foundation this year. As we were
rebuilding the final homes of our 3-year fire recovery
effort, the COVID-19 pandemic launched us into
another year of dedicated collaboration with our
community of donors, non-profit organizations,
and volunteers. We are celebrating these essential
partnerships more than ever this year.
With our donors, such as those who launched the
COVID-19 Relief Fund (page 3), we are serving our
community as it manages another crisis. With the
Keffeler family who came together to honor their loved
ones (page 5), we are supporting the next generation of
students pursuing careers in the medical field. With an
individual who believes in the value of the arts and created the
Fund for the Visual and Performing Arts (page 9), we are inspiring
artists countywide. And, with our Partners in Philanthropy (page 15), we are
continuing all of this important work into the future with planned giving.
Our leadership projects (page 13) are also intensive collaborations with many community partners. In addition
to our disaster relief work for wildfires and now COVID-19, we have also been working hard to secure an accu-
rate count for Mendocino County in the Census 2020 and strengthening the leadership of local non-profits
through our Executive Director Leadership Institute.
The pandemic has forced us each to work from the solitude and chaos of home, but the partnerships we have
built over the past 26 years continue to carry us into a strong future. This annual report reflects our gratitude to
the many people and organizations who partner with us to do wonderful things for Mendocino County.
