Open Source vs Closed Source
In both web based and installed software you have closed source and
open source learning management systems. Online SaaS / Cloud LMS
software is never open source. If you are a big fan of open source
projects you don't have to look in to those. Open source gives you
freedom, but also responsibilities. If you're a more hassle free girl or guy
just go with an online SaaS LMS.
Integrations
As for integrations, you have systems with integrations and systems
without integrations. To let data flow free you have to look into an LMS
which offers 3rd party integrations.

Moodle
What is Moodle?
Moodle is City's Online Learning Environment. Lecturers design Moodle
modules to enhance the student learning experience by providing online
access to module content, activities, communication tools and
assessment. This increases opportunities for students to interact with
module content and their peers. Moodle can be used to structure
students' Directed Independent Learning and to develop flexible learning

Moodle is available 24 hours a day and can be accessed both on and off
campus using a web browser. Moodle is considered at risk between 7-
9am GMT/BST each Tuesday morning when maintenance may be
undertaken.
Interaction with other systems and Moodle Enrolments
Each taught module has its own Moodle page which is updated by the
module leader, other lecturers who teach on the module, or the
programmed administrator. Moodle pages are automatically created
based on the module structure created in SITS, City's student
