10. ONGOING EMPLOYMENT
10.2 Training
Many Company’s talk about it, but Thomas Franks is truly committed to devoting sufficient time and attention to People Development to enable every individual to fulfil their potential in their chosen role. This will involve various types of training, not all of it off job. It is sometimes surprising how much we can learn from others and experiencing different ways of doing things; given the opportunity and tools to learn. To this end we actively promote multi-skilling and developmental learning for all of our people, and encourage learning in all it’s forms.
NVQ’s & apprenticeships are regularly supported. If you are truly committed to development and take some responsibility for your own training, we will be happy to discuss supporting your development either through funding or experience. In the first instance, please speak to your line manager.
On an annual basis, your line manager will agree a Personal Development Plan with you. This will be reviewed bi-monthly, either formally or informally, to ensure development continues and your personal and professional goals are fulfilled.
i. Induction Training
When you join us, you will undergo an induction training program to ensure you understand our expectations of you and to help you settle in as quickly and effectively as possible. This process will include an explanation of your responsibilities and benefits and completion of all the necessary documents to get you on the payroll.
ii. On-The-Job-Training
Part of your induction, new skills development, will involve on-the-job-training via a work buddy, line manager or Supervisor. Your role is to shadow and work alongside this individual until you have gained sufficient skills and competence to ‘go it alone’. Such training may be carried-out in your own location, or elsewhere.
