NARM Affect Core Principle: Sadness & Grief
§As essential as it is for the client to address their anger at their parents, the underlying grief of not having their basic needs met also must be addressed
§For so many clients this grief never gets processed and fuels many of the behaviors, symptoms and disorders that we are addressing
• Object Relations Theory refers to this as Abandonment Depression, which leads to the “6 Horsemen of the Psychic Apocalypse”:
 oDepression oPanic oRage
oGuilt
oHelplessness / Hopelessness oEmptiness / Void
