P. 26

NARM Affect Core Principle: Sadness & Grief
§Sadness is a process of completion of a permanent loss
§The emotion of sadness is an energetically alive state, even in painful §It allows us to reconnect with our the loss and hurt we experienced §Grief enables us to truly “move on”, “let go” and “forgive”
§Distinction between Sadness & Depression:
§Sadness is not a collapsed energetic state
§What many people, including therapists, refer to as grief and sadness, is actually the default collapsed state of depression
§The biggest pain we have is disconnecting from our hearts §When people avoid their real loss, they shut down their hearts
• Depression doesn’t lead anywhere
• Real grieving connects people back to their heart
oNo longer running from themselves, emotional completion can happen
